Amy Adams\u2019 appearance on the Today show was cancelled because she requested not to be quizzed on the Sony hacking scandal.\nThe 40-year-old actress, who was there to promote her film Big Eyes, said she\u2019d prefer not to discuss leaked emails as it was only a four minute interview.
\nShe said she wasn\u2019t comfortable answering questions about the computer hack attack because \u2018that had nothing to do with her.\u2019
\nIt\u2019s was entirely the Today show\u2019s decision to cut her segment \u2013 she was reportedly sat in the green room ready to go.
\nA spokesperson for the Today show defended their decision, saying: \u201cAs a news program, the Today show doesn\u2019t allow guests to dictate restrictions on interviews.
\n\u201cIn this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview.\u201d
\nMeanwhile The Weinstein Company, who are behind Big Eyes have said they are standing by her decision not to discuss it. The statement read: \u201cWe firmly stand behind Amy Adams. We\u2019ve been lucky enough to have had her talents grace several of our films.
\n\u201cWe are certain her fellow actors and directors would all agree, she is nothing but the consummate professional both on and off set. Amy decided to speak up for herself and express her disappointment that Today would feel the need to ask her a question she did not feel comfortable , and rather than respect her opinion or continue the discussion, the reaction was to pull her appearance from the show.\u201d
\nAmy was caught up in the hacking scandal when leaked emails revealed she was paid less for her role in American Hustle than her male co-stars.
\nInterestingly the Today show had previously taped a segment with American Sniper\u2018s Bradley Cooper and Clint Eastwood, but didn\u2019t ask them about the hacking, despite the fact Bradley also starred in the Oscar winning American Hustle.\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
