You just find the right tools. “I feel so grateful. Especially over the last couple of years, music has been alchemising. “Going through something difficult in your life, music for me is always a friend and something that helps you to figure things out. That’s always what I’m doing in the middle of the night.”
When Steve asked the music star how he rose above his personal problems, the dad-of-two explained that writing Ghost Stories was a cathartic experience. “It’s so important for me that album, it hasn’t really crossed my mind what it means for anyone else. Because I needed it.”
He also told Wright: “I’m very grateful to be here. Every day is a blessing. That’s how I feel.” Martin and Paltrow announced their separation in March with a statement in which they explained they were “consciously uncoupling”.
Paltrow has a love of health food and is a former devotee of macrobiotic diets.
Last week Chris was seen buying huge ice-slush drinks for their two children Apple, nine, and eight-year-old Moses while on a day out in Santa Monica. Devon-born Chris, who last night performed with the band at London’s Albert Hall, laughed that he had eaten seven scones when he arrived back in the UK from America.
He also revealed that he’d given up on vegetarianism, saying that he now eats meat. “I’d only eat something that I think I could kill,” he said. “I’d kill a fish. Not a giraffe.”
But Martin, 37, has not given up on his support for good causes. He urged more businesses to routinely give to charity, saying: “When I got pocket money as a kid, my mum said you should give 10 per cent away, and so we just keep that rule. “I don’t think it is corny at all, I think it would be amazing if all companies did that.”

Chris Martin revealed today that music was ‘a life-saver’ after his split from Gwyneth Paltrow earlier this year.
