{"id":154685,"date":"2014-05-24T00:59:18","date_gmt":"2014-05-24T00:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2014\/05\/24\/sir-paul-mccartney-in-hospital-battling-serious-mystery-virus-during-tour-in-japan\/"},"modified":"2014-05-24T00:59:18","modified_gmt":"2014-05-24T00:59:18","slug":"sir-paul-mccartney-in-hospital-battling-serious-mystery-virus-during-tour-in-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2014\/05\/24\/sir-paul-mccartney-in-hospital-battling-serious-mystery-virus-during-tour-in-japan\/","title":{"rendered":"Sir Paul McCartney in hospital battling serious mystery virus during tour in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/OEUOWMJZPPTPUGPSPXMR.jpg><\/p>\n<div>Anxious fans kept vigil outside a Tokyo hospital last night as Sir Paul McCartney battled a serious viral infection.<\/div>\n<div>Macca, 72 next month, was admitted after his recent symptoms failed to improve.<\/div>\n<div>He was hit by the mystery bug on May 16 \u2013 the day after he landed in the Japanese capital.<\/div>\n<div>His world tour gigs on May 18 and 19 were postponed as doctors ordered \u201ccomplete rest\u201d in his hotel room while he recuperated.<\/div>\n<div>The Beatles legend, who had tests for a \u201cminor heart irregularity\u201d in 2007, had hoped to return for the third and final Tokyo show on Wednesday.<\/div>\n<div>But that too was axed as he was taken to hospital on Tuesday amid growing fears over his health.<\/div>\n<div>Now organisers have also cancelled a scheduled concert in Osaka tomorrow and a first show in South Korea capital Seoul next Wednesday.<\/div>\n<div>Vegetarian Sir Paul, who also practices yoga and meditation, is being treated at Tokyo\u2019s St Luke\u2019s International Hospital, with third wife Nancy, 53, at his bedside. One fan outside said: \u201cI was surprised when I first heard about the cancellation of the gigs, but now I hear that he\u2019s been hospitalised and I\u2019m more concerned about the state of his health.\u201d Both his UK and US publicist declined to give any precise details of the star\u2019s illness.<\/div>\n<div>But his personal spokesman insisted: \u201cHe will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days rest.\u201d He added: \u201cPaul has been extremely moved by all the goodwill messages he has received from fans all over the world.\u201d Macca\u2019s musician brother Mike, a singer with the Scaffold, revealed that he had received a reassuring text from the star. He said: \u201cPaul told me he was recovering slowly but surely, so I\u2019m sure he\u2019s on the mend.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Rusty Anderson, Sir Paul\u2019s lead guitarist on the \u201cOut There!\u201d tour, tweeted yesterday: \u201cNow just awaiting Paul\u2019s recovery.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Earlier this week Macca apologised to fans for pulling out of the gigs.<\/div>\n<div>He told them: \u201cThank you so much for your kind messages of support. I\u2019m so very touched. Unfortunately my condition has not improved overnight. I was really hoping that I\u2019d be feeling better today. I\u2019m so sorry to be letting my fans down.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>But as his illness continued, tour organisers issued a further statement saying the singer was \u201cstill no better\u201d and that the cancellations were \u201cunavoidable\u201d.<\/div>\n<div>They are hopeful that the American leg of the tour will still go ahead as scheduled \u2013 starting in Lubbock, Texas, on June 14 followed by 18 more US gigs.<\/div>\n<div>Insiders say Macca is bitterly upset over the cancellations.<\/div>\n<div>A message on his website said: \u201cHe has been doing all he can to get better. He has only ever had to reschedule a handful of shows in his entire career.
