{"id":154820,"date":"2012-11-03T22:19:13","date_gmt":"2012-11-03T22:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2012\/11\/03\/racist-tweet-models-reach-agreement\/"},"modified":"2012-11-03T22:19:13","modified_gmt":"2012-11-03T22:19:13","slug":"racist-tweet-models-reach-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2012\/11\/03\/racist-tweet-models-reach-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"Racist tweet models reach agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/QBJSFJRWGRMHISAQIAPG.jpg>Two female models, who were criticised for tweeting racist comments in May, have reached an agreement with the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).<br \/>\n\u201cThe comments were accepted as constituting hate speech by the parties,\u201d News24.com quoted the commission as saying in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn terms of the agreement, the respondents made a public apology to the complainants, the commission, and the public,\u201d it said.<br \/>\nOn May 3, Jessica Leandra dos Santos told her 2591 twitter followers: \u201cJust, well took on an arrogant and disrespectful kaffir inside Spar. Should have punched him, should have [sic].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dos Santos, who was men\u2019s magazine FHM model of the year in 2011, later deleted the controversial tweet and posted an apology on her blog jessicaleandra.com.<br \/>\nFHM disowned her and stripped her of her title.<\/p>\n<p>One of her sponsors, QuickTrim, which makes weight-loss products, dropped her, while hundreds of people sent messages on Twitter expressing their dismay.<br \/>\nIn response to this on May 7, fellow model Tshidi Thamana tweeted: \u201cDear Mr Peter Mokaba, I wish all whites had been killed when you sang \u2018Kill the Boer\u2019, then we wouldn\u2019t have to experience @JessicaLeandra\u2019s racism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thamana\u2019s tweet also drew widespread condemnation.
