Legislators\u2019 Forum on AIDS (LFA \u2013 Nagaland) in collaboration with Center for Youth and Social Action (CYSA, Wokha) conducted one day advocacy programme at Lotsu village community hall, Wokha district on May 14.\nWelcome address was delivered by Lotsu village VDB secretary, brief history and activities of LFA was asserted by project assistant, LFA and DAPCU supervisor \u2013 Wokha gave a presentation on HIV&AIDS scenario in Wokha district, by giving facts and figure through power-point slides.
\nState-consultant, LFA Nagaland, Dr. Vinito L. Chishi highlighted the basic information of HIV & AIDS and STI through power-point presentation.
\nHe further urged upon the participants to give more effort to prevent HIV & AIDS in their own respective areas, as the leaders present in the programme could do much to stop the spread of the virus.
\nAddressing to stigma and discrimination, he emphasized that church and community should join hands to encourage the drug users and sex workers to come out openly and get their blood tested from the health centres and also with the help of ICTC van provided with testing facilities attached with CYSA.
\nHe stated that community leaders and churches should closely work together and help them to develop health seeking behavior without discrimination and judgmental attitude.
\nThe meeting was attended by seven different villages, where village leaders, church leaders, women leaders and several other institutional heads participated in the advocacy programme.
\nFurther chairman Lotsu village council thanked the Legislators\u2019 Forum on AIDS (LFA) and Center for Youth and Social Action (CYSA) for conducting the important meeting, while requested more programmes to be conducted in their area in near future for the benefit of all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
