Durga Malla and Capt. <\/p>\n<p>Neikezhekuo Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous).&nbsp; Shaheed&nbsp; Maj. Durga Malla a Gorkha soldier of Indian National Army who was taken into captive by the British and later hanged to death in 1944 as he was actively involved in getting India free and Capt. Neokezhekuo Kenguruse of 2nd Rajputana Rifles, valiant Son of Nagaland, while fighting in the ferocious Kargil War in 1999 succumbed to multiple bullet wounds in the battle field. <\/p>\n<p>The programme began with Deep Prajwalan (lighting of lamp) and homage to both the martyrs by Gorkha leaders by lying floral tribute. <\/p>\n<p>This was followed by video show unveiling ceremony of the statue of Shaheed Maj. Durga Malla near gate number 11 of parliament in New Delhi. Gayatri Devi advisor, Gorkha Sahitya Kala Sanstha, Kohima delivered speech on the significance of observing \u2018Balidan Diwas\u2019 she spoke on the life of Shaheed Maj. Durga Malla and also on supreme sacrifice made by Capt. Neikezhakuo Kenguruse. <\/p>\n<p>Other highlights of the programme were welcome song, patriotic song and special number by Vivela Club, Gorkha Mahila Samity and Gorkha Students\u2019 Union, Kohima respectively.
