\nThe DC was addressing a town-hall meeting on Micro-Small-Medium Enterprises (MSME) organized by Reserve Bank of India (RBI), rural and credit department, Guwahati at Ana-Ki Conference Hall, Dimapur. Addressing a large group of RBI officials, bankers and entrepreneurs, Hushili opined that entrepreneurs in the state faced many constraints.
\nShe pointed out that Nagaland now has new and energetic youths who were willing to venture into businesses even though entrepreneurship was at its infancy in the state.
\nThe DC also expressed the view that most of the time; many of the bankers were not helpful to the beneficiaries of central as well as state schemes pertaining to businesses and other ventures. She said that whenever, the beneficiaries approached the banks, the entire process of procuring their share eventually gets delayed; sometimes even extending the process for years.
\nDelivering the keynote address, RBI Guwahati, regional director S.S. Barik pointed out that MSME also contributed to the country\u2019s GDP. He said about 40 percent of the country\u2019s manufacturing output were contributed by MSME.
\nS.S. Barik said to assess the problems and issues of entrepreneurs and small businesses in various parts of Northeast, surveys had been conducted in identified areas. He said that the findings of such surveys were discussed and deliberated upon.
\nThe RBI has also conducted one such survey in Dimapur covering around 25 to 30 entrepreneurs in various clusters, the findings of which were presented during the meeting. Earlier, after the welcome address by GM, RPCD, RBI Guwahati D. Sethy, a slide show \u201cA guide to financing needs of micro and small enterprises\u201d was presented where it had been emphasized that procuring loans from the banks were better than getting the same from relatives or others.
\nSBI DGM A.K. Chaudhary also highlighted the importance of MSME and said that after \u201cfood\u201d production, MSME played one of the most important roles towards the country\u2019s economic development. SIDBI general manager Rahul Rohatgi briefly highlighted the features of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). He said that SIDBI, unlike other banks was a financial institution for the promotion, financing and development of MSME sector and for co-ordination of the functions of the institutions engaged in similar activities. He also informed that in recent times, not many NGOs or entrepreneurs have come forward to take up the activities under SIDBI\u2019s promotion, financing and development help.
\nDirectorate of industries, government of Nagaland, joint director Temsulong Jamir also spoke during the meeting.
\nThe meeting was followed by a discussion on the findings of the survey on MSME units carried out by RBI in Dimapur between April 7 and April 9 in some clusters. The survey report highlights the issues and problems faced by MSME units in Dimapur.
\nIt may be mentioned that MSME provide the largest share of employment after agriculture. In the rest of the country, MSMEs produce a diverse range of products and services to meet the needs of the local markets, the global market and the national and international value chains.
\nMinistry of MSME works in close coordination with the state governments, industry associations, banks and other stakeholders through numerous field offices and technical institutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
