{"id":157053,"date":"2014-05-08T02:10:16","date_gmt":"2014-05-08T02:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2014\/05\/08\/msf-rntc-dohfw-conduct-wshop-on-tb\/"},"modified":"2014-05-08T02:10:16","modified_gmt":"2014-05-08T02:10:16","slug":"msf-rntc-dohfw-conduct-wshop-on-tb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2014\/05\/08\/msf-rntc-dohfw-conduct-wshop-on-tb\/","title":{"rendered":"MSF, RNTC, DoH&#038;FW conduct w\u2019shop on TB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8rs (MSF) in collaboration with the Nagaland Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP) and the Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoH&amp;FW) organized a day long workshop on Tuberculosis (TB) May 6 at Kohima.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; District tuberculosis officers from the eleven districts of the state along with the medical officers from the state TB hospitals and staff from the central RNTCP office in Kohima discussed the importance of TB and shared special cases and their respective experiences.<br \/>\nMSF HIV and TB country referent, Dr. Homa Mansoor, who conducted parts of the training, said \u201cTB is a medical as well as a social disease\u201d. He said it is because of this treatment of TB demands a holistic approach than limiting it to one point interactions between the doctors and patients only. The workshop threw light on several subjects including signs and symptoms, diagnosis and classification of Drug Resistant TB, infection control, adverse reaction and adherence with case presentation, experience sharing, exercises and much more. Assistant program officer Dr. Apichetla commented \u201cit was recapitulating our knowledge on TB and particularly DR TB, with focus on the clinical aspects and especially the side effects, which has been beneficial for treating our patients.\u201d&nbsp; MSF, in partnership with the department of health and family welfare has been supporting Mon district hospital since 2010. An initial three years memorandum of understanding was signed in July 2010 and an extension for one year was agreed this year, bringing the collaboration between MSF and the DoH&amp;FW to an end in July 2014.
