Barely after a week after taking over the new parliamentary secretary for school education, Yitachu Monday exuded confidence that he would be able to bring in major transformation of the Department of School Education (DoSE). He pointed out that a \u201cproper shaping\u201d was not to the department earlier and people had lots of misconception about DoSE.\nIn an exclusive interview with Nagaland Post, Yitachu said that after he took over, he has held a series of meeting with department officials and after considering the issues \u201cinstant policy decisions\u201d were taken in all possible matters. He however said there was the need for further studying the issues.
\nThe parliamentary secretary said as part of the new policy and on realizing the importance of the national language \u2018Hindi\u2019, the department has decided to post one Hindi teacher each in all GPS, GMS, GHS and Higher Secondary Schools over the the existing strength.
\nOn Language Development Section, Yitachu said officials were working on developing various tribal languages though appointing specific language teacher had become an issue. He said a policy decision that once the rationalizing of teachers was completed, every school would be designated as language teacher each, particularly at the elementary, high school and higher secondary school level.
\nOn the pending salaries and non-payment of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers, the parliamentary secretary said SSA salaries were not given by the state but the Ministry of Human Resource Development due to which no alternate arrangement could be made at the moment.
\nOn Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan (RMSA), Yitachu disclosed that there were some pending cases and expressed the hope that by the end of June, the department would be able to come up with a clear picture. He informed that a meeting with directors of SSA and RMSA has been convened on June 11.
\nOn the downgrading of 129 GHS by NBSE, the parliamentary secretary said it was all procedural matters and the same would be resolved.
\nYitachu also disclosed that GHSS Mon had taken admissions beyond the school\u2019s capacity and said there should be limit to intake capacity for any institution otherwise quality education would be compromised.
\nHe also questioned as to why enrolment was poor in the up-graded higher secondary schools in Naginimora, Tizit and Aboi. He said if there was lack of teaching staff, the matters should be brought to the knowledge to the higher authorities.
\nWhile expressing his confidence in discharging duties with full responsibility and accountability as the parliamentary secretary of school education, Yitachu also assured that all shortfalls of teachers would be looked for emergency arrangement, redeployment of teachers so that every up-graded schools run effectively and made productive. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
