Dr. T. Lima Jamir while speaking on the topic \u2018peacemaking\u2019 said, \u201cPeople tend to use attack responses when they are more interested in controlling others and getting away than preserving a relationship\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said there were three ways to resolve personal conflicts. The first was to \u201coverlook an offence\u201d related to disputes which were \u201cinsignificant\u201d, second, he said was through \u201creconcialiation\u201d through forgiveness followed by \u201cnegotiation\u201d through a cooperative bargaining process.<\/p>\n
Dr. Lima pointed out that when these three ways fail to resolve issues, then the conflicting parties should seek \u201cmediation, arbitration and accountability\u201d. <\/p>\n
However, he said people also tend to escape response when they are more interested in \u201cavoiding unpleasant people or situation\u201d while others tend to resort to \u201cattack\u201d response when they are interested in \u201ccontrolling others\u201d. He also stressed on the importance of the gospel as the key to peace and resolving conflicts. <\/p>\n
The cultural nite began with an invocation prayer by EBC academic dean Sebastian M. Basumatary followed by a welcome speech by EBC founder\/president Rev. Dr. T.N. Lotha. <\/p>\n
The highlights of the day included folk songs and dance items by various troops representing Lotha, Bodo, Sumi (Kughupi Kughuni), Ao, Nepali and Eastern Nagas.
