Kawoto passed away recently at the age of 88.<\/p>\n<p>In a release, Vihuto Yepthomi, chief editor, \u201cYepthomi Chronicles\u201d and former secretary to the Government of Nagaland, said, \u201cIn H Kawoto Sukhalu Yepthomi\u2019s death, the Yepthomi clan and Sumis have lost a great leader.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Vihuto Yepthomi, H Kawoto Sukhalu Yepthomi had rendered valuable service to the British Government. He was with CR Pawsey, the then Deputy Commissioner, Kohima in the underground cell with undeterred heart during the entire period of the Kohima battle. <\/p>\n<p>The British Government has put his name on the roll of heroes. It also awarded a Certificate of Mention to him in 1945. This was great honour conferred on H Kawoto Sukhalu Yepthomi. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cH Kawoto Sukhalu Yepthomi had great concern for the Nagas with particular reference to the Sumis in political and religious crises,\u201d Vihuto Yepthomi said, while recalling H Kawoto Sukhalu Yepthomi\u2019s key role in the formation of United SBAK.<\/p>\n<p>Vihuto Yepthomi said, \u201cH Kawoto Sukhalu Yepthomi was a senior member of the Yepthomi clan, and took initiative for research work for \u2018Yepthomi Chronicles\u2019. He also hosted the research workers in his house at Kawoto village on October 10, 2000.
