In January, Spice Jet had opened a sale for some seats across its sectors, forcing other low-cost carriers to follow suit. <\/p>\n
Similarly, after Jet airways announced the drop in the fares last Monday, most other airlines too had to follow to ensure that they don\u2019t lose out on business.<\/p>\n
Travel experts feel that it\u2019s a way of collecting crores in bulk from bookings. It is also a way of ensuring that the seats also do not go empty at the last moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a great way of getting money in bulk. Summer and winter are usually peak travel time so there won\u2019t be a dearth of passengers. <\/p>\n
But this secures the airlines during lean months and also gets lots of cash in the bank,\u201d said Rajesh Rateria, managing director, Cirrus Travels.<\/p>\n
Another Fort-based agent said that since most have pre-book in a hurry, there are likely to be many cancellations as well. <\/p>\n
