\nIn a press release, Hokhuvi Aye stated that the meeting was held at State Stadium, near Dimapur College March 18, which was attended by the leaders from all the parking zones and over a thousand auto drivers.
\nHowever, he alleged that a few hundred drivers were stopped and forcibly driven back by those \u201cself-formed DDADU\u201d, who also allegedly tried to \u201ccreate commotions and assaulted few participants so as to disturb the smooth going general meeting.\u201d
\nAccording to the release, the house acknowledged and extended gratitude to the district administration and regional transport authority, Dimapur for revising and enhancing the auto fares. The house also thanked the superintendent of police (SP) Dimapur, for providing security during general body meeting, \u201cwhich resulted to peaceful conclusion.\u201d
\nMeanwhile, claiming that term of the former office bearers DDADU expired in 2011, the release said, in order to revive the established union, the general body meeting of the auto drivers unanimously resolved the following in the interest of all the auto drivers: Hokhuvi Aye to be President of the DDADU; not to collect daily tax(s) as per government standing order and that newly elected president to cooperate with the district administration\/controlling office for the welfare and to safeguard the general auto drivers.
\nIt may be mentioned that Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers\u2019 Union (DDADU) had issued a clarification March 17, stating that convening of auto drivers of Dimapur district meeting was without the knowledge of DDADU, which was officially recognized by the competent authority.
\nDDADU president K. Hokaito Zhimomi and general secretary Obeka Tuccu had also stated that in view of the \u201cunofficial convening of meetings by the unscrupulous and self vested interested person(s)\u201d, the union was compelled to inform its bona fide members not to attend the unofficial meeting(s).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
