{"id":162820,"date":"2014-03-17T00:23:19","date_gmt":"2014-03-17T00:23:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2014\/03\/17\/will-not-allow-occupation-of-land-under-dispute-jac\/"},"modified":"2014-03-17T00:23:19","modified_gmt":"2014-03-17T00:23:19","slug":"will-not-allow-occupation-of-land-under-dispute-jac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2014\/03\/17\/will-not-allow-occupation-of-land-under-dispute-jac\/","title":{"rendered":"Will not allow occupation of land under dispute: JAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed by members of border villages in Dimapur Sunday asserted that the committee would not allow any individual to occupy land under dispute.<br \/>\nIn a statement, JAC convenor Hetokhu Awomi and secretary Akuto Tuccu said that following the news that nine houses were gutted down in Rangapahar area, the JAC made a thorough investigation.<br \/>\nAccording to JAC\u2019s findings, before the bifurcation of the then greater Assam into Assam and Nagaland, the present Naogaon Village had been established and the village now falls under the disputed area Along Dimapur and Karbi Anglong border. <br \/>\nJAC informed that two more villages \u2013 Tilla Bosti and Notun Bosti were established in recent years, extending towards Nagaland border by Debo Sharma (GB of Tilla Bosti), Ranjit Nepali (GB, Notun Basti and Mary, who was alleged \u201csurrendered\u201d DHD cadre who hailed from Jorhat district, Assam.<br \/>\nJAC said that these people planned to open another village\u2013 Khukhri Bosti in the disputed area and began issuing site allocations to different individuals and against each site allotted, small huts were built to indicate ownership.<br \/>\nNine such huts were burnt down, according to the report received by the JAC.<br \/>\nJAC also clarified that its members had \u201cnothing\u201d against the Karbi people or the KPLT but asserted that they were against the people responsible for setting up villages in the disputed area.<br \/>\n\u201cWho are they? Who gave them the authority to issue site allocation, that too in a disputed land?, asked the JAC. The committee said unless permanent boundary demarcation was done in the border, JAC would not allow any individual to occupy land under dispute. Otherwise, the committee would begin initiating development activities in the area, said JAC.<br \/>\nJAC also alleged that Tilla Bosti and Notun Bosti have been harbouring criminals and timber smugglers like \u201cMary, Zachai, Lerin, Anush etc. (all alleged surrendered DHD cadres). The committee reminded that on October 16, 2010, two youths from Toulazouma Village \u2013 Lhikeyie (25), son of Apfu Chakesang and Rokovilie Angami (28), son of Zhanya Angami were \u201cmurdered\u201d in the vicinity of the two villages while they were out \u201chunting for frogs\u201d. Thei bodies were thrown on either sides of the railway track to make it appear like they have been hit by running train, alleged JAC. <br \/>\nStating that the prime suspects in the crime have not yet been arrested, JAC said the government of Assam, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, DC Diphu and Assam police should \u201cown moral responsibility\u201d and initiate flushing out criminals in the villages. Till date there has been no outcome of the investigation, JAC said Naga residents of the border area have been harassed by \u201cthese people and Assam police\u201d as well. JAC urged the investigating agency to probe the case and nab the culprits.<br \/>\nThe committee also clarified that Bindu Deb Nath alias Kala and Sinil Dutta are bonafide citizens of S. Hukavi Zhimomi Colony and Rangapahar Crossing respectively however they were non-Nagas and could not harm even \u201ca fly\u201d.
