Runavilhuo lauded the college for taking initiatives in organizing awareness programme to the students and prayed that the college would be a role model college in Chumukedima area in promoting consumer rights to other areas too.<br \/>\nHe then encouraged the students to tight up with Chumukedima students union to organize more of consumer rights in the area. Exhorting the gathering with some thought provoking challenges, he also acknowledged the department of LMCP, Dimapur for observing such important program at Chumukedima. <br \/>\nAssistant controller of LMCP, Dimapur Limatoshi Jamir in his key note address narrated the history of world consumer rights day and explained the importance of observing this day.&nbsp; He mentioned that this day has been observed in commemoration of the historic speech delivered to the US congress by President John F Kennedy on March 15 1962. The assistant controller also explained how the department of LMCP has been the honoured to be the nodal department of consumer protection in the state. Jamir said that with a vision to impart knowledge about consumer rights to young people he has chosen MMC and organized the program jointly with the consumer club of MMC.<br \/>\nOther highlights of the programme include speeches by three students of MMC on the theme, \u201cconsumer rights in the digital age\u201d the programme was chaired by Nukshi Esther Imsong, M.Sc (Psy) MBA (HR), welcome address was delivered by Onentemjen Ao, M.Com vice principal MMC and vote of thanks was pronounced by Ngangshimakok Jamir, inspector of legal metrology and consumer protection, Dimapur.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Department of Legal metrology and consumer protection Kohima district along with consumer clubs observed the world consumer rights day Saturday at St. Paul school Phesama with Kezhokhoto Savi (advocate) president Nagaland Voluntary Consumer Organization as the resource person.<br \/>\nThe programme was observed under the theme \u201cconsumer rights in the digital age\u201d Savi in his speech highlighted the importance of \u201cthe consumer protection Act 1986 (COPRA)\u201d which is the guardian of every consumer from large corporation and unscrupulous business from taking undue advantage of the consumers. He stressed the importance of already framed guidelines by the \u201c United nations guidelines for consumer protection\u201d protecting the rights of consumers all around the world.<br \/>\nThe programme was chaired by Apeno Khale co-ordiantor of consumer club St. Paul school Phesama, invocation prayer by Rev. Fr.
