Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) has strongly condemned the \u201cact of intimidation\u201d towards a lady journalist working with Nagaland Post and appealed to the authorities, both at the village and state levels, to take appropriate action against the perpetrators of this \u201coffensive behaviour.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement, NSCW chairperson Prof. Temsula Ao said it was extremely distressing to learn about the harassment meted out to the journalist at 36 Toshiho polling station under 5-Ghaspani-II A\/C on February 26. <\/p>\n
Stating that the incident was deplorable and condemnable by all, the NSCW chairperson said the incident showed the \u201cantagonism that still persists against women\u201d while discharging their professional obligations. <\/p>\n
She has lauded the \u201ccourage of the young journalist\u201d for bringing the incident into the public domain and hoped that timely action of the authorities to deter such incidents would go a long way \u201cin curbing negative attitudes\u201d towards women\u2019s empowerment and development in all spheres of Naga life. <\/p>\n
MPC:<\/span> Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) while extending solidarity to the Nagaland Post lady scribe, said it was \u201cappalled\u201d to learn about the \u201cphysical and verbal abuse\u201d of a fellow journalist by the mob.<\/p>\n Stating that this was a direct attack on the press fraternity, MPC president Limalenden Lkr and secretary Sashimeren said such disregard for the fourth estate despite the victim identifying herself, should be condemned by one and all.
