Nagaland Foot Hills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) along with the department of PWD (R&B) Friday decided to conduct a joint survey according to the road map of the committee so as to expedite the construction work for the proposed Foothill road from Dimapur, Wokha, Mokokchung and Mon (as per NFHRCC road-map), <\/p>\n
After a long deliberation held Friday at the residence of committee treasurer Yashits\u00fcngba at Khermahal, NFHRCC decided to undertake the joint survey of NFHRCC members and PWD (R&B) officers in line with the option 8 (see table), tentatively on September 23 or 24. <\/p>\n
It may be noted that the PWD (R&B) had submitted its report to the state government for the construction of the foot hill road giving nine options after conducting a survey (see table). Out of the nine, the department had approved the choice of option 3. <\/p>\n
However, NFHRCC rejected the department\u2019s proposal (option 3) and instead, approved option 8. NFHRCC said option 8 has 90% similarities with the option it had framed, except for some rectifications that were needed in Mon and Mokokchung sectors. <\/p>\n
NFHRCC convenor Supu Jamir said rectifications have been made and urged the department to start the construction by next month as assured by the government. <\/p>\n
The meeting has also resolved that NFHRCC would not to allow any illegal deduction of taxes from any groups, organizations and department, except state government\u2019s \u201cmandatory deduction\u201d from the fund sanctioned for foothill road. Supu said foot hill road being the \u201cpeoples\u2019 and extraordinary project\u201d, NFHRCC would not allow any illegal deduction. <\/p>\n
He said NFHRCC would stand firm with the July 17 decision and the assurances of the chief minister on the same day to start the construction work by October. <\/p>\n
Chief engineer PWD (R&B) D. Mero has also assured to depute technical staff to start the survey for Doyang bridge from Libhayan (near governor\u2019s camp) by next week. <\/p>\n
The committee told the department that jungle clearing in certain areas, where fresh cutting required would be carried out by the committee. <\/p>\n
The meeting also resolved that the foothill road should not be politicized in any form and that the construction should be initiated within the definition of the \u201cfoothill road\u201d.<\/p>\n
