{"id":167263,"date":"2013-01-25T00:10:02","date_gmt":"2013-01-25T00:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2013\/01\/25\/nbcc-rejects-poll-diktats-issues-guidelines-to-voters\/"},"modified":"2013-01-25T00:10:02","modified_gmt":"2013-01-25T00:10:02","slug":"nbcc-rejects-poll-diktats-issues-guidelines-to-voters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2013\/01\/25\/nbcc-rejects-poll-diktats-issues-guidelines-to-voters\/","title":{"rendered":"NBCC rejects poll diktats; issues guidelines to voters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has issued 13-point guidelines to be followed by electorates in the state when exercising their right to vote in the forthcoming assembly elections scheduled for February 23. <\/p>\n<p>In the guidelines, NBCC has requested voters to avoid participating in any kind of collective decision by \u201cclans, khels and villages\u201d to cast vote for a candidate and asked them to honour \u201cindividual right and freedom of choice\u201d and exercise \u201cGod given wisdom\u201d to vote for God-fearing, principled and capable candidates. It has also asked them to avoid soliciting or giving away of cash\/kinds and other forms of favours for your vote or for buying votes. <\/p>\n<p>As part of its clean election campaign, NBCC while requesting all to abide by the guidelines asked the voters to participate on the basis of constitutional right, democratic spirit and Christian values. <\/p>\n<p>The council asked all to avoid tampering of date of birth and register himself\/herself or anybody on the electoral role before 18 years of age adding that one should keep only one voter identity card. <\/p>\n<p>While asking all to safeguard his\/her constitutional right to vote without interference from any kind of undemocratic forces, NBCC also requested all to abstain from indulging in \u201celection feasts, substance abuse, sexual immorality and in any form of corrupt activities\u201d that were not in tune with Christian principles.<\/p>\n<p>NBCC said all voters should avoid promoting unhealthy competition and violence but to confront any kind of force that upset the democratic process of elections. <\/p>\n<p>\nStating that one should exercise voting right with honesty and keep his\/her vote a secret, NBCC asked the electorate not to \u201ccast any proxy vote or impersonate any other person\u201d nor knowingly allow anyone to cast his\/her vote.<\/p>\n<p>NBCC requested all not to \u201cmanipulate, misguide or threaten others against their choice and will\u201d in voting for a particular candidate. <\/p>\n<p>Every informed public and community in a given area should evolve strict and transparent mechanisms for free and fair poll, said NBCC. <\/p>\n<p>It may be mentioned here that NBCC formally launched the clean election campaign on June 25, 2012. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has issued 13-point guidelines to be followed by electorates in the state when exercising their right to vote in the forthcoming assembly elections scheduled for February 23.
