A joint consultative meeting held on January 19 at Dimapur under the aegis of the Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN) endorsed the call made by NBCC on \u2018clean election\u2019 as the main agenda of the meeting.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by representatives of Kuki Students Organisation Nagaland, Kuki GBs Union of Ahthibung and Molvom Gamkai, Church leaders, Kuki officers serving as well as retired, and senior Kuki intellectuals. <\/p>\n
The meeting deliberated on the forthcoming general election of the state slated to be held on February 23.<\/p>\n
Kuki Inpi general secretary, Silas Khongsai, stated that the house unanimously accepted and endorsed the clean election campaign called by NBCC on suggestion made by various groups and individuals. <\/p>\n
Kuki Inpi further called upon its members living in Nagaland to abide and follow the theme endorsed by NBCC and expressed full faith and confidence on the NBCC for its \u201cwonderful initiative\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Inpi also called upon politicians, Church leaders, public leaders, both underground and overground civil societies to adhere to the principal \u201cone man, one vote\u201d so that no individuals are deprived of their birth right. <\/p>\n
It further urged leaders from all walks of life to abstain from \u201cmoney power and adulteration politics\u201d so that the common will of the majority would be taken into consideration for all round development of the state.<\/p>\n
While advocating that the leaders should make people aware of their individual rights and free will to elect a leader of their own choice, the Inpi further went on to condemn the \u201cattitude\u201d of some few politicians who \u201cresort to violent activities after their defeat due to their heavy election expenditure\u201d. <\/p>\n
In this regard, the Inpi urged political leaders not to \u201cpractice luring of votes\u201d through \u201cmoney power\u201d and other \u201cmaterialistic\u201d form for winning election.<\/p>\n
In the meeting, the model code of conduct for \u2018clean election\u2019 was also read out for wider public knowledge and information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
