Dimapur Phom Union (DPU) and Dimapur Phom Students\u2019 Union (DPSU) vehemently condemned the rape of a minor girl by one Joshua Rhakho on September 14 at Naga United Village, Block-B, Diphupar area, Dimapur.<\/p>\n
DPU general secretary Philip Buchem in a press release said the union was \u201cappalled, humiliated and distressed\u201d by the \u201cheinous and beastly act\u201d committed on a minor girl.<\/p>\n
The union demanded the administration, judiciary and investigating agency to take immediate action against the accused, adding, that he should not be granted bail under any circumstances. <\/p>\n
DPU urged the authority to expedite the probe with a sense of urgency without leaving any loopholes and demanded the prosecution of the accused to ensure that he was given a befitting punishment as per the law. <\/p>\n
DPU also demanded that the case be handled by a fast track court to avoid lengthy litigation and that monetary compensation should be granted to the victim. <\/p>\n
The union also wanted the authorities to notify the public on the action taken on the case so that justice was delivered in a transparent, fair and just manner. <\/p>\n
DPU also lauded Naga United Village, Block-B village council for taking prompt action by handing over the accused to the police.<\/p>\n
DPSU: Strongly condemning the rape of a minor, Dimapur Phom Students\u2019 Union (DPSU) said it was \u201cshocked\u201d and \u201canguished\u201d about the incident.<\/p>\n
DPSU president Pahen Phom in a press release demanded that the accused who was reportedly \u201cmarried\u201d should be awarded befitting punishment as per the law and he should not be granted bail.<\/p>\n
Lauding the Naga United Village, Block-B village council for apprehending the accused and handing him over to the Diphupar police station, DPSU also demanded action against the accused as per the customary law of the village.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
