{"id":16769,"date":"2017-08-15T01:16:03","date_gmt":"2017-08-15T01:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/08\/15\/naga-political-groups-celebrate-naga-independence-day\/"},"modified":"2017-08-15T01:16:03","modified_gmt":"2017-08-15T01:16:03","slug":"naga-political-groups-celebrate-naga-independence-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/08\/15\/naga-political-groups-celebrate-naga-independence-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Naga Political Groups celebrate \u2018Naga Independence Day\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Kholi urges Nagas to be prepared and alert<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">NSCN (I-M) on Monday celebrated \u201c71st Naga Independence Day\u201d at Council Headquarters (CHQ) Hebron on Monday with kilo kilonser, Hukavi Yepthomi, as chief guest.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background:#b4acac; height:px; width:px; float:right; margin:5px;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cms.nagalandpost.com\/newsimages\/PhotosCollection\/HATOETQPWJVAESXSZGTX_resize.jpg\" style=\" border: 1px solid #000\"\/>\n<\/div>\n<div>Kilo kilonser, who hoisted the Naga national flag, also read out the speech of NSCN (I-M) vice president \u201cGen (Retd)\u201d Kholi Konayk on the occasion.<\/div>\n<div>In his speech, \u201cGen(Retd)\u201d Kholi urged the Nagas not to take anything for granted \u201cat this last and crucial stage of our political negotiation with the Government of India\u201d but be more alert and better prepared \u201cto neutralize any negative element that tries to disrupt us.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Reminding the Nagas that \u201cnothing is certain until it is achieved\u201d, the NSCN (I-M) vice president appealed to all including \u201cNational workers\u201d and the public to make concerted efforts with full sense of responsibility and accountability towards achieving \u201ca lasting solution to our political problem with India.\u201d He cautioned that unless Nagas were ready to collectively realize the danger of \u2018self-destruction\u2019, Nagas would face destruction beyond repair. (Full text in p-6)<\/div>\n<div>Elaborating on the peace process, NSCN (I-M) steering committee convenor, Rh Raising, said that the \u2018historic\u2019 Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 between government of India and NSCN as two entities was based on the unique history of the Nagas.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He said that the Framework Agreement would be the beginning of a new relationship between India and the Nagas, adding that the Nagas needed India as much as India needed Nagas.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe Framework Agreement was signed on the 3rd August of 2015 through the grace of the Lord and the wise statesmanship of leaders of the two peoples, which will certainly open the \u2018Era of the Nagas\u2019,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div>On the occasion, short speeches were delivered by Naga Hoho vice president, H K Zhimomi, Naga Mothers Association (NMA) president, Abei\u00fc Meru, Naga People\u2019s Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) Nagaland sector convenor, Kenneth; Eastern Nagaland People\u2019s Organization (ENPO) advisor, Toshi; Naga Students\u2019 Federation (NSF) general secretary, Boveio Poukai Duo; Tirap Changlang Longding People\u2019s Forum (TCLPF) president, N Changmi; Zeliangrong Boudi, NC Hills, Assam president, Pouheu Newme; Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) vice president, Ghokheto; United Naga Tribes Association on Border Areas (UNTABA) chairman, Hukavi T Yepthomi.<\/div>\n<div>Earlier, the invocation was said by Lotha Baptist Church, Dimapur, senior associate pastor, Lanlongo Yanthan, while closing prayer was offered by CHQ, Hebron pastor, Rev D Heutui.<\/div>\n<div>A silent prayer in remembrance of the martyrs was led by GHQ head chaplain, \u201cLt. Col.\u201d Daniel.<\/div>\n<div>The event was marked with songs and a Naga army drill by the NSCN cadres.<\/div>\n<div>NSCN (I-M) Vp. Bn.: NSCN (I-M)\u2019s Vephutso &amp; Zasibituo battalions, Naga army celebrated 71st \u201cNaga Independence Day\u201d at Vp.Bn. headquarters Tsiemekhuma village on Monday, some 40 km away from the state capital.<\/div>\n<div>On the occasion, \u201cLt. Col\u201d Akho Nagi MSM CO Vp.Bn. hoisted Naga national flag and took salute.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cLt. Col\u201d Akho, who also read out the speech of NSCN (I-M) vice president \u201cGen (Retd)\u201d Kholi, sought service and contribution from the public to achieve the final goal at the earliest. He also appealed to the gathering for extend cooperation in all their endeavours in the future also.<\/div>\n<div>Others who spoke on the occasion included \u201cLt. Col\u201d Vikato MSM Co ZB.Bn., Angami youth organization (AYO) president Neiguvoto Krose, Angami students\u2019 union (ASU) vice president Petekhrietuo Kiewhuo and representative of &nbsp;Tsiemekhuma bawa village council.<\/div>\n<div>Programme was led \u201c2nd Lieut.\u201d Aso, SPO Vp. Bn., invocation prayer was said by Tsiemekhuma bawa pastor, welcome address was delivered by \u201cLt. Col.\u201d Khehoto-MC 2 I\/c Zn. Bn. On the occasion, vote of thanks was proposed Lt. Col Mahaimi 2 i\/c Vp.Bn. while benediction was said by pastor Sendenyu associate pastor followed by feast. SPO read out the names of promoted Naga army officers. Kitovi Zhimomi, said that Naga political right and history cannot be tempered with or interpreted conveniently to suit either the Government of India (GoI) or a section of Nagas.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Ato kilonser asserted that it was a grave political judgement to attempt an exclusive solution when a people\u2019s or a nation\u2019s political fate is at stake. \u201cIt must be noted that hurriedly signed political accords or agreements, as past episodes tells us, without the real stakeholders is futile and unforgivable,\u201d Zhimomi said, adding that it would only inflame the patriots to explore and execute appropriate actions deems fit in order to defend a people\u2019s sovereign right.&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Determined to uphold legacy: Addino Phizo<\/span><\/p>\n<div>Naga National Council (NNC) commemorated 70th Anniversary of Naga Independence Day at Peace Camp, Chedema, Kohima Monday. FGN Kedahge \u201cGen (Retd)\u201d Viyalie Metha, unfurled the national flag paid respect to \u201call those heroes who laid down their lives in defence of Nagaland\u201d.<\/div>\n<div style=\"background:#b4acac; height:px; width:px; float:right; margin:5px;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cms.nagalandpost.com\/newsimages\/PhotosCollection\/FYRQGVSRULTYCQZQZGJU_resize.jpg\" style=\" border: 1px solid #000\"\/>\n<\/div>\n<div>FGN vice president, L Kiaso, read out the speech of the NNC president Adinno Phizo in her absentia. In her speech, Adinno Phizo said commemorating 70th anniversary of Naga Independence was a great day for the Nagas to look back not in anger but wonder and be thankful to God how Nagas people could pull through in various obstacles and overcome in every difficult time in the past years.<\/div>\n<div>She said that present generation were determined to uphold the legacy handed over by the past Naga leaders.<\/div>\n<div>In his address, FGN Kedahge \u201cGen (Retd)\u201d Viyalie Metha lamented that ever since Naga declared independence on August 14, 1947, Nagas have been suffering from the hands of the overwhelming Indian occupational armed forces in the land.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He said India thinks it had inherited Nagaland from the British but the fact was that Nagaland was never a British Subject.<\/div>\n<div>Kedahge said Nagaland thus declared her own independence on August 14, 1947, adding that India had no right to occupy Nagaland by force.<\/div>\n<div>Highlighting the history between India and Nagas, he said whatsoever the case may be, the truth that \u201cNagas are not Indians and Nagaland is not Indian territory\u201d be prevail in the end.<\/div>\n<div>The occasion was marked by folk songs and cultural presentations.
