Mim Kut-a post harvest thanksgiving festival of the Kuki Nagas was celebrated with gaiety in all Kuki inhabited areas within the state.<\/p>\n
Colourful traditional dances and melodious songs marked the day as people celebrated the festival, Thursday at New Chalkot village under Peren district.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, S Chuba Longkumar said that the festival should be a time for retrospection of the past and rebuilding the tribe for the future.<\/p>\n
Describing Kukis as an honest and courageous people, Longkumar said on the festival was time for to question themselves what good they have done for the people and whether they have resolved to do \u201cgreat deeds\u201d for the Nagas.<\/p>\n
Extending festive greetings, Longkumar encouraged the gathering to celebrate the festival in the same manner, every year, to retain their identity and unity amongst themselves.<\/p>\n
Cultural show was presented by New Chalkot village blocks, Letkhohao and party; the village elders also presented a mimkut folk song.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Mim Kutfestival was also celebrated, Thursday at Khaibung village with advocate Hukavi Zhimomi as the chief guest.<\/p>\n
In the daylong celebration, the gathering was enthralled with colourful traditional attire display and traditional dances by the five colonies of Khaibung.<\/p>\n
In a short speech, GB Khaibung, Sontinthang Haulai while pointing out that Mim Kut festival signifies sympathy and honesty urged the villagers to cultivate the habit of honesty and show sympathy towards others.<\/p>\n
