Thousands of people streamed past various exhibition stalls on the last day of the three-day NER Agri Expo here. According to official sources, the expo till Saturday afternoon attracted over two lakh (2, 60, 887 visitors). Even as stalls were folding up hundreds poured in for the last minute shopping. <\/p>\n
According to Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) and principal secretary H.K Khulu who presented the chairman\u2019s remark at the valedictory function, the 3rd NER agri expo was significant in the sense that unlike the previous two expos the 3rd NER agri expo had no managing partner. The state on its own managed the expo this year which was locally sponsored.<\/p>\n
Local business sector sponsored some of the event in the expo and there has been participation from the international country like Israel, embassy of Laos PDR, Thailand and the US Senator from USA and ASEAN countries. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis time we have added the 3rd hanger including the children park, water bubble, eco-friendly rickshaw, and new event was organized – a grand dog show,\u201d said Khulu. <\/p>\n
There were 195 exhibitors manned by 1482 persons in all. This included 1830 farmers. 124 officials were drawn from all the participating states. There were 608 officials and organizers with the support staff of 388 in coordinating and organizing the successful event. <\/p>\n
The number of visitors on head count were 2, 60, 887 visitors till afternoon on the last day. However, in the later part of the day, many visitors mostly families pouring in. <\/p>\n
A public announcement had to be made asking the food courts and stalls not to close shop as more people began thronging in.
\nFormal programme came to a close with the music medley presented by Patkai Choral and Nagagenous. <\/p>\n
Khulu also said after the successful first and second Northeast Agri Expo, there has been awakening in the farming community and many farmers were sponsored and mobilized by agri and allied department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
