{"id":170741,"date":"2013-09-22T02:18:41","date_gmt":"2013-09-22T02:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2013\/09\/22\/students-tortured-at-jnv-peren\/"},"modified":"2013-09-22T02:18:41","modified_gmt":"2013-09-22T02:18:41","slug":"students-tortured-at-jnv-peren","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2013\/09\/22\/students-tortured-at-jnv-peren\/","title":{"rendered":"Students \u2018tortured\u2019 at JNV, Peren"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>At least six parents and guardians of students studying in class XI and XII have alleged that their wards have been \u201ctortured\u201d by a certain \u201cstudent mob\u201d and they have been threatened by the same students for quite some time now.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint press release, the six, representing the parents and guardians of the 51 students (25 boys and 26 girls) who have been \u201cthreatened\u201d and \u201ctortured\u201d said on September 19 morning, one of their wards, a class XI student was called out of class, in front of the class teacher and was beaten up. <\/p>\n<p>The same evening three more students were threatened by the students, said the parents and guardian adding that similar incidents have been noted since the beginning of the academic year.<\/p>\n<p>The parents and the guardians alleged that this \u201cmob of students\u201d studying in class X have been \u201cbullying and ragging\u201d other students and even took the \u201cname of their tribe\u201d asserting that they ruled the institution. <\/p>\n<p>These students also carried \u201cstick\u201d even in the dormitory and dining hall and the teachers, principal and school administration have not been able to do anything about it as they had \u201cno power over them\u201d, alleged the parents and teachers.<\/p>\n<p>According to the parents and guardians, on September 19, some parents complained and sought the intervention of the district administration and local bodies and even held a meeting&nbsp; between the student victims\u2019 parents, school administration, ADC Peren, SDO (civil) Peren, Jalukie Village authorities, Jalukie Students\u2019 Union and Zeliang Students\u2019 Union.<\/p>\n<p>The parents and guardians said that the matter seemed to have been settled but the victim students were threatened again with \u201cdire consequences\u201d right after the officials left. <\/p>\n<p>The victimized students are now gripped with \u201cfear and reluctance\u201d to go back to the school, said the parents and guardians. <\/p>\n<p>They also said \u201cmany unaccounted physical tortures\u201d have made the victims reluctant to go back and alleged that the school administration and local bodies have failed to give them any assurance on their safety.<\/p>\n<p>Stating that the victims were now even more \u201cworried and disturbed\u201d as their 1st semester examination has been scheduled from September 26, the parents and the guardians have sought the immediate intervention of Naga Students\u2019 Federation and higher district authority over the issue on or before September 23.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>They also warned that if the issue was not addressed, the parents were ready to \u201cgo to any extent\u201d in order to deliver justice to their \u201cvictimized children\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At least six parents and guardians of students studying in class XI and XII have alleged that their wards have been \u201ctortured\u201d by a certain \u201cstudent mob\u201d and they have been threatened by the same students for quite some time now.
