As part of the ongoing inspection of confectioneries and food joints, food safety teams under the Health and Family Welfare department Monday inspected bakeries, restaurant kitchens and ice-cream manufacturing units in Dimapur and Kohima.<\/span><\/div>\n
Food safety commissioner, I Himato Zhimomi, Monday took to twitter to inform the public that chief medical officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi, and a food safety team, inspected Breeze bakery and Popsicle Ice-cream factory and the proprietors were directed to improve hygiene. Himato tweeted that subsequent to notice served, Plaza bakery in Dimapur was already conducting a massive improvement and cleanliness drive.<\/span><\/div>\n
He also stated that food safety officers inspected Popular Bakery and Paradise restaurant in Kohima on Monday. The commissioner stated that notices for improvement were served.<\/span><\/div>\n
In Kohima, the food safety team under CMO Kohima, in coordination with state officials on Monday undertook an exercise in Kohima in compliance with the notification issued by the commissioner of food safety. <\/span><\/div>\n
In a press note, CMO Kohima, Dr. Ritu Thurr, stated that Popular Bakery was inspected by the officials \u201cafter a notification was served prior to 40 days.\u201d The CMO said it was found that the bakery still needed proper hygienic storage and baking practices.<\/span><\/div>\n
District food safety inspector, Kezhangulie Yimch\u00fcng\u00fcri, \u201cnotified the bakery with suspension\u201d till further notice. The inspection drive was also carried out at Paradise restaurant adjacent to Popular Bakery. The CMO said storage of food items and processing compartments lacked hygiene. Therefore, the restaurant was served with an order to improve their food units.<\/span><\/div>\n
