{"id":17183,"date":"2018-07-24T00:35:28","date_gmt":"2018-07-24T00:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/07\/24\/fpai-observes-69th-foundation-day\/"},"modified":"2018-07-24T00:35:28","modified_gmt":"2018-07-24T00:35:28","slug":"fpai-observes-69th-foundation-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/07\/24\/fpai-observes-69th-foundation-day\/","title":{"rendered":"FPAI observes 69th foundation day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>With the rest of the country, Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) Nagaland branch observed its 69th foundation day under the theme \u201cThe beginning: FPAI branch\u201d held at RHFPC satellite centre opposite NSF Martyrs park on Monday evening.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">President FPA India, Nagaland Branch Kohima, James Liezietsu, in his presidential address said in that 1947 when India became independent, fertility was high with couples averaging six children where Public health facilities were minimal and life expectancy was just 40 years. He said that with a burgeoning 344 million population, with too many children too soon detrimental to women\u2019s health, it was a group of concerned women who addressed this issue and established the Family Planning Association of India in 1949. Since then, each decade has been marked by FPA India\u2019s pioneering growth and work, he stated.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">According to Liezietsu, the PFAI\u2019s missions were to advocate for gender equality and empowerment for all including the poor and vulnerable people, ensure information, education, and services. He added that the association\u2019s vision was for all people to be empowered to enjoy their sexual and reproductive health choices and rights in India, free from stigma and discrimination.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">He stated that FPA India is associating with Australian Aid, Engineers India Limited, Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation, European Union, Bharat Cement and Government of India besides a host of other funding partners with more than 23 different projects implemented across India. The Nagaland branch is associating with different allied government departments of Nagaland in sponsoring the programs and activities.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">General Manager FPA India, Nagaland Branch Kohima Vincent Belho in his speech on milestones of the FPAI said the activism of some committed women in the early Independence era evolved into Family Planning Association of India in 1949.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">He stated that FPA India, Nagaland Branch today runs a Clinic called Reproductive Health &amp; Family Planning Clinic (RHFPC) at Daklane in the main town of Kohima city besides a Satellite Centre here at NSF Martyrs Park.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">&nbsp;Belho highlighted the wide variety of facilities available at their Daklane Kohima office and satellite centre like Universal Immunization &#8211; BCG, DPT, Measles, OPV, TT, Hepatitis B, Counseling \u2013 Family planning, HIV, MTP and other Specialized Counseling.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The program was chaired by Viketouzou Victor program officer FPA India Nagaland branch.
