Chang said the chosen theme should not only emphasizes merely on the goal of celebration but should be \u201cour\u201d role of humanitarian network to provide relief and a challenge to work for society voluntarily for a brighter future.<br \/>\n&nbsp;He said this while addressing on the occasion of \u201cWorld Red Cross Day\u201d at Red Cross complex Kohima organized Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Nagaland state branch as the chief guest.<br \/>\nLauding at the activities of RCS, he said it has always been in the forefront in rendering relief promptly and speedily wherever and whenever disaster strikes, transcending all barriers of nationality, race, religion and language. <br \/>\nChang said its purpose is to project life and health, respect for human beings, to promote mutual understanding, friendship, co-operation and lasting peace among all people.<br \/>\nHighlighting the story of Red Cross movement, Chang said it was founded by the Swiss national Henry Dunant and it was celebrated every year to honour and commemorates the birthday of the founder who was born on May 8 1828 in Geneva.<br \/>\nStating that Red Cross which founded with a desire for improved care for wounded soldiers in wartime has now resulted in rendering humanitarian service worldwide drawing millions of volunteers and members to carry out its missions and programmes without discrimination.<br \/>\n&nbsp;Chang then said Red Cross movement was guided by seven principles \u2013 humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality with just one objective to \u201chelp those who suffer without discrimination and thus contribute to peace in the world\u201d. <br \/>\nThe minister also lauded the Nagaland state Branch Red Cross Society for always being active investors of human services for the assistance and development of weaker sections and communities on voluntary basis.<br \/>\nEarlier, the programme was chaired by Abeni TCK chairperson IRCSN, invocation prayer was said by Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao member M.C. IRCSN, special songs by JRC unit St. John School Kohima and School of nursing NHAK while vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Kepelhusie Terh\u00fcja general secretary IRCSN.<br \/>\nThe chief guest also gave away the prizes for the painting and essay writing competition for youth Red Cross to the school children. In painting competition Vingunuo Mepf\u00fc-o class of G. Rio HSS Kohima bagged first, second by Ashong class 10 G. Rio HSS Kohima and third position by Kevisevol Thore class 8 St. John school Merh\u00fclietsa. In essay writing competition three students got consolation prize; Neiketounuo Kiso of Kohima science college Jotsoma, Esther Lohe of St. Joseph College Jakhama and Dzuze Zao St. Joseph College Jakhama.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; (Correspondent)<br \/>\nLONGLENG:&nbsp; Indian Red Cross Society, Longleng Branch observed \u2018\u2019World Red Cross Day\u2019\u2019 Thursday at D.C\u2019s Conference Room, Longleng where members of the society and non-members attended and took part on the occasion.<br \/>\nDeputy Commissioner Longleng K.Libanthung Lotha who is also the chairman of Indian Red Cross Society Longleng Branch spoke on the theme \u2018\u2019My Red Cross Story\u2019\u2019 and said that an individual who posses and assume a life with kindness, love, affection etc. for the humanity while on earth is a \u2018\u2019worth living\u2019\u2019 and there is nothing above to conquer when pious mind-set is rooted in one\u2019s life. <br \/>\nHe also encouraged the gatherings to extend voluntary service to the needy that are dying through numerous man made disastrous and unavoidable natural calamities around the globe. The DC also maintained that serving voluntary deeds like \u2018\u2019Red Cross Society Service\u2019\u2019 who sacrifice for the unity of the world is the beautiful tasks while we live on earth and therefore, it is the real \u2018\u2019Worth Living\u2019\u2019 who truly have it.<br \/>\nSecretary \u2019Indian Red Cross Society Longleng branch&nbsp; Y.B.Angam Phom briefed the gatherings about the \u201cWorld Red Cross Society\u2019\u2019.&nbsp;&nbsp; The program was conducted by Y.B.Angam Phom, scripture reading and prayer by Beau Phom, Pastor Longleng town Baptist Church, special song by LTBC Youth, and vote of thanks by Longai Phom, P.O Life Member. (Correspondent) <br \/>\nIRCS Mkg: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mokokchung District Branch celebrated \u201cWorld Red Cross Day\u201d Thursday under the theme \u201cMy Red Cross Story\u201d.
