{"id":172269,"date":"2013-11-02T00:57:49","date_gmt":"2013-11-02T00:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2013\/11\/02\/roots-determine-survival-of-a-race-dr-shurho\/"},"modified":"2013-11-02T00:57:49","modified_gmt":"2013-11-02T00:57:49","slug":"roots-determine-survival-of-a-race-dr-shurho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2013\/11\/02\/roots-determine-survival-of-a-race-dr-shurho\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Roots\u2019 determine survival of a race: Dr. Sh\u00fcrho"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Dr. Sh\u00fcrhozelie Liezietsu president Ura Academy and also president NPF, described ancestry and originality of a people as their \u2018root\u2019 whose condition determined their survival. <\/p>\n<p>He said this while addressing the 20th general conference of the Tenyimi People\u2019s Organisation (TPO) as chief guest, hosted by the Naga People\u2019s Organisation (NPO)&nbsp; at the multipurpose building Senapati (some 80 Kms away from Kohima) Friday under the theme \u201cRoots\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Basing his speech on the theme \u201cRoots\u201d, Dr. Liezietsu pointed out that root is the underground part of a plant that held the tree stem. Giving the illustration of root and people, he said during a storm, trees with strong roots stood firm but those with weak roots get uprooted.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Narrating about the book he wrote \u201c Utsiepfumia R\u00fcve\u201d (Ancestors journey), Liezietsu said Tenyimia people are the direct descendants of Tenyiu the eldest of four sons of Vadio and from whom ancestors of Tenyimias spread over the areas under Tenyimia jurisdiction. <\/p>\n<p>He said Tenyimia is a natural family and not a union adding \u201cwe are Tenyimia by blood and not by choice. We must be very clear about our roots\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He said Tenyidie literature committee was established in 1939 at the initiative of American missionary Rev.J.E.Tanquist and the language was&nbsp; introduced at college level in 1988 and plans were on to include it at B.Ed level by May 2014, to coincide with the platinum jubilee of Ura Academy. <\/p>\n<p>President TPO Keku Zeliang said TPO comprised of ten fraternal tribes- Angami, Zeliangrong, Chakhesang , Rengma, Pochury, Mao, Poumai, Maram, Thangal and Inpui spread across Nagaland, Manipur and Assam. He said TPO was committed to work for unity of the constituent tribes so as to take the Tenyimi people forward. <\/p>\n<p>He said TPO tribes share the same genealogical lineage and affinity and without any political agenda.&nbsp; He also paid tributes to former presidents Z.M Sekhose, W.C Krome and S. Daiho press secretary TPO and gave acknowledgements to the family members.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">TPO at the conference adopted four resolutions: <\/span><br \/>\n1. TPO for common aspiration of Nagas a people and a nation and&nbsp; for early settlement of the \u2018Indo-Naga\u2019 issue that was workable, honourable and acceptable to both sides. It will also work cohesively towards better understanding and unity among Nagas living in different parts of the world;<\/p>\n<p>2. TPO will continue to respect and honour the ancestral history of forefathers beginning from the first and final dispersal place of Tenyimis at the legendary tree at Makhel; to preserve traditional culture and customs and also encourage enrichment of Tenyidie and Tenyimi dialects;<\/p>\n<p>3. TPO will continue to do research on origins and the oral history and will not induct any new tribe into its fold till ongoing research was completed by TPO Research Committee and with unanimous consent of all TPO units and approval of its governing body;<\/p>\n<p>4. TPO shall continue to support and cooperate with the Naga Hoho, the Apex body of the Naga people as a whole<\/p>\n<p>A new team was elected with Timikha Koza as president, Tsela Pochury as Vice president, Ketsorel Angami as general secretary, P. Sani secy as pub &amp; infor., Solomon Maram as games and sport secy., Kevi Rio as secy. finance, Ashipro Zho Poumai as secy. Adm., Hauling Zeliang as secy.
