{"id":172592,"date":"2013-10-12T00:09:56","date_gmt":"2013-10-12T00:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2013\/10\/12\/ntc-responds-to-naga-hoho\/"},"modified":"2013-10-12T00:09:56","modified_gmt":"2013-10-12T00:09:56","slug":"ntc-responds-to-naga-hoho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2013\/10\/12\/ntc-responds-to-naga-hoho\/","title":{"rendered":"NTC responds to Naga Hoho"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Newly formed Nagaland Tribes Council, has reiterated that it was being launched in the best interests of Nagas of Nagaland as the \u201ccommon property of the 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Responding to the criticism against its formation by Naga Hoho, which appeared in sections of the local media on October 11, NTC convenor Pius Lotha and secretary Theja Therieh asserted that NTC welcomed every Naga of Nagaland to \u201cown and be part of it\u201d adding, they would never compel or even force anyone to participate in NTC except through one\u2019s own volition.<\/p>\n<p>On Naga Hoho\u2019s stand that formation of NTC was \u201cpremature and not appropriate\u201d , the signatories maintained, that instead it was almost late for Nagas of Nagaland to have their own platform, which has been a long-felt need.<\/p>\n<p>They opined that the Naga Hoho\u2019s plea that NTC formation was premature and not appropriate when \u201cNagas are struggling for social and political fraternity\u201d was a \u201csuppressive mechanism\u201d and a \u201cborrowed culture\u201d. They said such attempts to use phrases were \u201calien to Nagas of Nagaland\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The signatories asserted that NTC has no \u201chidden agenda\u201d and neither will \u201cit ever take interest in interfering in the affairs of others\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Further, drawing attention on Naga Hoho\u2019s press statement, revealing that representatives of 18 tribes attended Thursday\u2019s meeting to resolve and reiterate the resolution (on NTC), they said seven were from Nagaland and remaining 11 were from outside Nagaland. <\/p>\n<p>The signatories said Nagas of Nagaland \u201cparticularly the willing partners\u201d have a right to form their own association; Naga Hoho would be wise to \u201crestrain from undue exercise\u201d in the interest of peaceful coexistence. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #ff0000;\">Zeliang People\u2019s Organisation stands with NTC<\/span><br \/>\nZeliang People\u2019s Organisation (ZPO) has reiterated that ZPO and Zeliang people of Peren district fully uphold the formation of NTC. <\/p>\n<p>Stating this, ZPO president Azu Newmai and general secretary Kisamyi affirmed that Zeliang people \u201cin their inherent right and dignified identity, as a recognised tribe of Nagaland and under the aegis of the apex organisation- ZPO- will attend the launch of the Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) on Saturday, October 12 at APO Hall Kohima. <\/p>\n<p>The two also clarified that ZPO and Zeliang people \u201care no underside entities of Naga Hoho\u201d and reaffirmed that they (ZPO and Zeliang people) will not be \u201ctagged\u201d by the diktats of the Naga Hoho.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Newly formed Nagaland Tribes Council, has reiterated that it was being launched in the best interests of Nagas of Nagaland as the \u201ccommon property of the 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland\u201d.
