{"id":173257,"date":"2012-11-24T23:56:18","date_gmt":"2012-11-24T23:56:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2012\/11\/24\/dr-ngangshi-calls-for-human-touch-in-dealing-with-patients\/"},"modified":"2012-11-24T23:56:18","modified_gmt":"2012-11-24T23:56:18","slug":"dr-ngangshi-calls-for-human-touch-in-dealing-with-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2012\/11\/24\/dr-ngangshi-calls-for-human-touch-in-dealing-with-patients\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Ngangshi calls for \u2018human touch\u2019 in dealing with patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/IMGBJVDNTZIGJGNDBEXL.jpg>CIHSR celebrates 5th anniversary <\/p>\n<p>Minister for PHED Dr. Ngangshi Ao Saturday said health services in modern times have become too sophisticated and dependent on machines. <br \/>\nLooking back at the health sector from 1960s where there were not many facilities, Dr. Ngangshi who was also a surgeon by profession said the old-fashioned but powerful tool -human touch was lacking in modern medication. <\/p>\n<p>He was speaking at the 5th foundation day of Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR). <br \/>\n\u201cBesides medication, we need to gain moral support and learn the history of the patients\u2026Human touch should not be forbidden\u201d. He encouraged doctors to have holistic approach towards human touch.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ngangshi who said that he became a politician by default said politics was not dirty as one thought to be. Rather, politics was holy and without politics and law making decisions there cannot be development and therefore, he said youngsters should also be interested in politics. <\/p>\n<p>Peace activist, Niketu Iralu speaking as the guest of honour congratulated CIHSR and said the hospital should serve the people just as one served the kingdom of God. <br \/>\nHe spoke at length on the topic \u2018building a bright future\u2019 expressing hope that CHISR would serve as an inspiration to others through their services. <\/p>\n<p>Member of CIHSR society governing body additional chief secretary and commissioner Banuo Z Jamir lauding the achievement of CIHSR said attaining five years was a big milestone for CIHSR family.&nbsp; Banuo said through successful public private enterprise (PPE) venture, CIHSR should be able to reach out beyond other states in the periphery of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire. <\/p>\n<p>Also supporting Dr. Nganshi\u2019s concern on need for human touch, Banuo said doctors should communicate humanly adding, \u201cVery often we tend to be mechanical and fail to see the patients\u2019 point of view.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>However, with the successful PPE venture and Christian values, Banuo expressed hope that CIHSR with the Christian values would be able to expand its health services to other parts of the country. <\/p>\n<p>She lauded CIHSR team headed by its director Dr. Abraham Joseph and MS Dr. Sedevi Angami for making CIHSR a model hospital. She also released CIHSR 5th anniversary souvenir. <\/p>\n<p>Director of CIHSR, Abraham Joseph presenting the report highlighted that besides providing health services in the hospital, CIHSR also conducts outreach activities where in 2009- community health programme started with rural health clinic at Showuba, Urban health clinic at Burma camp, Dhobinalla and Miqlat ministry with NBCC and in November 2010 an MoU was signed with the state government to adopt Dhansiripar as a project area of CIHSR for rural health development. <\/p>\n<p>It has also linked with northeast medical network initiated to get more mission hospitals to support each other and consultants from CMC Vellore, MMM Chennai visit CIHR regularly.&nbsp; Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sedevi Angami and recognition of meritorious service to the institutions were awarded to selected doctors and nurses by the chief guest. Later, closing the programme with benediction, Rev. Dr. Wati Aier on behalf of the Forum for Reconciliation (FNR) appealed to all the factions to exempt CIHSR from collecting tax. <\/p>\n<p>It may be mentioned that Christian Institute of health sciences and research is a major partnership programme between the Government of Nagaland, Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) and Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore.
