{"id":17341,"date":"2018-07-24T23:58:55","date_gmt":"2018-07-24T23:58:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/07\/24\/atma-conducts-agriculture-related-activities-across-state\/"},"modified":"2025-04-15T13:58:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T08:28:57","slug":"atma-conducts-agriculture-related-activities-across-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/07\/24\/atma-conducts-agriculture-related-activities-across-state\/","title":{"rendered":"ATMA conducts agriculture related activities across state"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Continuing with its initiative, Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) conducted various trainings, demonstrations and inaugurated various schools to boost farmers output and income across the state.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Peren, Ahthibung block: ATMA Peren, Ahthibung block conducted Kisan Goshtis on July 21, at Saijang village.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Ahthibung team along with the farmers visited farmer\u2019s fields and surveyed the problems of pest and diseases and also identified potential crops for Saijang village.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">A press release from ATMA Peren, DAO &amp; PD Hewoto Sema said that during the discussions, farmers brought up their problems of pests and diseases of various cash crops.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The team briefed the farmers on the measures and steps to overcome these problems through prophylactic measures using locally available plant extracts for organic production of vegetables and spices.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The farmers were shown how to maintain soil health and taught the importance of soil nitrification by organic measures like green manuring, incorporation of well rotten FYM and also using bio agents etc.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Farmers women group were encouraged to work hard and enhance their field during winter crops cultivation to increase income.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The resource persons also highlighted to the farmers the economics of crop cultivation. The program was attended by 18 women farmers.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Longkhim: ATMA Longkhim block under Tuensang district inaugurated maize farm school on July 18, at Changtoa village.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">During the program, Thripongse was appointed as the farm school teacher. Training and demonstration was conducted on maize cultivation and the resource person was ATM Moatemsu.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Juniru Food Security Group (FSG) was formed with 13 members.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Meanwhile, a program was conducted on July 19, at Lirise Village.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Temsu, farmer friend, demonstrated the technique to process tea (black tea, green tea, white tea).&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Hojungse a farm teacher demonstrated kiwi and apple cultivation where he showed how to graft apple plants.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Later, ATM Moatemsu, demonstrated cardamom cultivation.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">He deliberated on site selection, land preparation, seed quality and intercultural operations. Altogether 45 farmers attended the program.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Tuensang, Sangsangynyu block: ATMA Tuensang, Sangsangynyu block inaugurated an integrated farm school in Bomaiyo, Haak village on July 17 and appointed Takum as the farm school teacher.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">According to ATMA Tuensang, Sangsangnyu block, at the inaugural program, demonstration on apple and kiwi cultivation were showed to the farmers. HEA Horticulture, BTT convenor, C. Limba, explained to the farmers about the ideal conditions for apple cultivation and directions were given on training and pruning which is essential for a proper orchard framework. He also trained the farmers on the scope and importance of horticultural crops. AI (Agriculture), Mongko Chollen educated the farmers on the cultivation techniques of kiwi and stressed on training of kiwi vine which requires constant attention.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Meanwhile, on July 18 at Haak village, FD (Fishery), P. Liyang demonstrated methods involved in pond construction, management process and testing of the acidity of the pond using pH paper.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Mongko Chollen also demonstrated cultivation practices of cardamom, intercultural operations, care and management. Altogether 30 farmers and four officials attended the program.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Tuensang, Noklak Block: ATMA Tuensang, Noklak Block inaugurated an \u201cIntegrated Farm School\u201d at Noklak headquarter, formally inaugurated by BTM Chare block, Dr. Arenmongla, on July 16.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">At the inauguration program, Dr. Arenmongla highlighted the concept of farm schools and pointed out that setting up a farm school would provide opportunity for dissemination of farmer\u2013to-farmer technology and implementation of new and innovative technologies where farmers can learn better farming practices.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Tsumon was appointed the farm school teacher. The other highlight of the program was demonstration on value addition of banana, pineapple juice and pineapple jam, nursery bed preparation, vermi-composting and training on tea cultivation. Apart from Dr. Arenmongla, the other resource persons were; BTM Noklak block, Jhongkoi Lam; and Donya Farmer\u2019s friend.
