US president Donald Trump may survive the current term of his presidency but it is most unlikely he would stand any chance of being re-elected in 2020. The only possibility of a likely re-election is if the American economy continues to perform and the dollar gets stronger. Trump has been very successful in bringing down inflation and improving the economy and also enabling creation of more jobs than in the past but still, his popularity does not match the disapproval ratings. This is because Trump is proving to be the most “unpresidential” of all incumbents and his administration has been hit by unwanted controversies. In addition, Trump has actually lived up to his role as the host in the American television serial, The Apprentice where he is either ‘hiring or firing’ people. Trump has been a truly disappointing president who won an unexpected victory of the much touted and hyped rival Hillary Clinton. One of the most potent critic of Trump happens to be the liberal media, the left and the democrats. The never ending attacks on Trump in the media especially CNN, which has made it its number one priority, has created a negative image of Trump as he is seen as one who can never do anything right. Liberals, leftists and democrats are forever predicting Donald Trump’s political demise. After each purported outrage – Charlottesville, separating children from their immigrant parents, Helsinki and now the CNN lawsuit – they confidently contend that this latest event will finally force Trump’s supporters to abandon him. This has not happened and instead, Trump’s rating has actually risen by 6% since late 2017. Fueled by his historic tax reform and an unprecedented regulatory rollback, the economy grew by 4.1 percent in the second quarter. The unemployment rate is just 3.9 percent – near the lowest it has been in nearly two decades – and the New York Times reports, “Job growth is on a record streak [and] American factories … are hiring at their fastest rate in two decades.” Even African American and Hispanic unemployment rates are at near record lows, while unemployment rate for women is the lowest it has been since 1953. The American liberal media has got it wrong again as it had when Trump was poised to fight Clinton for the presidency. The sheer ordinariness of Trump’s coalition is impossible to overstate. Trump has pressed towards the mark of keeping his poll pledges and that has kept his bulk support base happy even as the media flays him with each supposed transgression. After the recent mid-term polls in which the Republicans retained majority of the Senate but lost Congress to the Democrats, angry Trump-hating Democrats are forcing their leaders to impeach Trump. The anti-Trump liberal media speculated on impeachment of the president by Democrats in the US Congress but on closer scrutiny out of 52 Democrats who had slammed Trump only 11 wanted impeachment. The liberal media has been using every opportunity to attack Trump in order to discredit him. Unfortunately, Trump’s conservative support base remains intact and instead his policies are showing positive results.
