Yes, we must speak to the issue or one day we will be held to account for beingsilence. Yes, we already have illegal immigrants in our land at a level more than we can accommodate Even without additional immigrants, we have a hard and frugal life which threatens our existence.<\/p>\n
It is said that there is no laws limiting the immigrations into the United States from different parts of the world and integrate into their economy. For the United States has a big, fertile and sparsely populated with highly productive capacity. But this is not what we see our land (Nagaland) with its geographical area of a mere 16,579 Sq. Km. only which is hilly and mountainous with extremely hostile terrain. In this kind of land, we get less than what we put in. Whereas, the United States has a geographical area of 9,372,614 Sq. km which is almost triple the size of India.<\/p>\n
There is also a show of exponential growth of population with 64.9 % decadal growth as per 2001-2011’s census as against national growth of 21.04 %, which is abnormally very high. If the decadal growth is more than 23%, it is said to be abnormally high.<\/p>\n
The fear of exodus of undocumented immigrants aftermath the National Register Citizens (NRC) in Assam has alarmed the whole North-East to find their ways to several other neighbouring states because their presence will be come a real threat to our collective future in many ways. This illegal immigrants will remain a security challenge, if no adequate measures are taken including checking and deporting of illegal migrants. Let us therefore devise a way to stop the flocking undocumented migrants into our land in order to save our posterity from being overwhelmed by them like Tripura state.If throngs ofillegal immigrants are allowed to migrate into our land in terms of thousands every day, what would our future be like? This demographic threats, if a comprehensive measure is not taken right from now on, there is a threatthat the state of Nagaland will be torn asunder one day.<\/p>\n
In this connection, the whole DimapurMouzashould be brought under “Inner Line Permit System” where check posts are to be set up at such vulnerable points where the illegal immigrants can easilyfind out into our land. We have several protective laws to protect the rights and interest of the Nagas from any form of exploitation by other ethnicities such as the Bengal Frontier Regulation Act, 1873, the Assam Land Revenue Regulation Act, 1886, the Chin Hills Regulation 1896 etc. etc. If all these and others are enforced strictly, and also if the whole DimapurMouza is brought under thepurview of “inner-line permit system,” the inflow of illegal immigrants can be reduced substantially. Who are to be blamed for this state of affairs?
