\nSky Entertainment: What made you decide to come to Nagaland?
\nJennifer Batten:<\/span> To the west, India seems like a place of higher spiritual evolution. Also, I\u2019ve been interested in different cultures for many years which reflects in my music. <\/p>\n
\nJB:<\/span> Adventure. I haven\u2019t had time to look into information about the area, so I expect surprises daily. I\u2019m really looking forward to hearing local musicians.<\/p>\n
\nJB:<\/span> I took lessons since I was 8 years old, and eventually graduated from Musicians Institute in Hollywood. I also studied with some private jazz players. My father always had jazz playing in the house. He also took us to a lot of concerts.<\/p>\n
\nJB:<\/span> It depends on what projects are looming. So, it\u2019s anywhere from 1 hour to all day.
\nSE:<\/span> In the 10 years you have worked with Michael Jackson, what was the best part?
\nJB:<\/span> The best was everything that was so new to me on the Bad tour in 1987.<\/p>\n
\nJB:<\/span> He was kind, thoughtful, considerate, and enormously talented. It gave him joy to be able to present innovative fresh material and stage shows to people.
\nSE:<\/span> What does it take for an artist to make it big in Music Industry?
\nJB: <\/span>There is no formula. I think in the end it\u2019s a combination of your personality, talent, and energy. In general, people that are famous are pretty driven to do what it takes. Having a good focus on your goals and working non-stop are key. But in the end, the audience can feel your level of love for the music, so that has to be number one.<\/p>\n
