First of its kind in Kiphire district, the Agri.Clinic and Agri.Business center was inaugurated at Kiphire with deputy commissioner Kiphire, Mohammed Ali Shihab as the chief guest today.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the programme, DC said that the day was a historic day for the farmers of the district. He said that Jhum cultivation was the identity of Nagas and that Kiphire was blessed with fertile land and forest and production of pulses such as maize, kholar, soyabeans etc in plenty.<\/p>\n
DC said that it was the duty of every citizen to protect its land and forest as it may lose its fertility of soil if used improperly.<\/p>\n
Stressing the need for awareness on use of bio-technology, he said that Agri.Clinic proprietor should not sell out like other goods in the shops but should guide the farmers while selling their product to use in proper way.<\/p>\n
Citing the nearest example of recent blockage of road to Kiphire, the chief guest said that Kiphire should make its district self sufficient in agricultural products, particularly rice. DC said that as agriculture was the strength of the people, every citizen should maintain determination and make the district stand itself in terms of agro products.<\/p>\n
He further appealed the gathering to use the Agri.Clinic & Agri.Business Center judiciously for the benefit of farmers.<\/p>\n
SDO(C) Reny Wilfred who also spoke at the programme appreciated the department for bringing new changes in the district. He said that the officers in the district were working tirelessly for the benefit of the district but the support and cooperation should be given from the concern citizens. SDO(C) said that Kiphire was selected as aspirational district, however all works would be successful if people of the district came together and work for it. <\/p>\n
District agriculture officer (DAO), R.Santsu Kithan while sharing the needs of the farmers in bio-tech facilities in the district said that 90 percent of the district was farmers but there was no sufficiency of rice. He mentioned that the district has no food security and was urgent need of preserving the old tradition of food security. DAO also adviced the farmers to take proper guidance while using of agri-product fertilizer.<\/p>\n
Project director, DRDA Kiphire, Setsathong and vice president United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) K.Tsilise Sangtam also spoke at the inaugural programme.<\/p>\n
The Programme was chaired by Deputy District Agriculture Officer Kiphire, Rouvihou Tseibu Rulho while vote of thanks was delivered by AFA, C.T.Setsiba Sangtam. Proprietor of AC & ABC Kiphire also spoke at the programme.<\/p>\n
