{"id":180943,"date":"2018-09-18T13:14:05","date_gmt":"2018-09-18T13:14:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/09\/18\/nsdf-condemns-rape-of-minor-girl-with-intellectual-disability\/"},"modified":"2025-04-10T11:17:26","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T05:47:26","slug":"nsdf-condemns-rape-of-minor-girl-with-intellectual-disability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/09\/18\/nsdf-condemns-rape-of-minor-girl-with-intellectual-disability\/","title":{"rendered":"NSDF condemns rape of minor girl with intellectual disability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/http:\/\/new.nagalandpost.com\/cms\/gall_content\/no_images_650x.jpg><\/p>\n<p>The Nagaland State Disability Forum (NSDF) has condemned the rape of the 11-year-old girl with intellectual disability by Vizielie Peseyie of Jotsoma village on September 9.<\/p>\n<p>A press release by NSDF president, Kezhaleto Zecho and secretary, Ashe H Kiba demanded that the case be fast tracked and &ldquo;befitting punishment handed out to the perverted criminal.&rdquo;&nbsp; It added, &ldquo;Nothing can ever compensate for the trauma faced by the young victim, but the State Government must also provide some succour in the form of speedy compensation to the survivor and her family.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The release further stated that the case highlights the &ldquo;extreme vulnerability of women and girls with disability, especially women and girls with intellectual disability, to rape and sexual abuse.&rdquo; It added that they were some of the &ldquo;easiest and most frequent victims of sexual assault, their risk being at least seven times the rate for people without disabilities.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Nagaland State Disability Forum stressed that it was imperative that mechanisms for the protection of women and girls with disability and delivery of justice are in place and functioning as it should.
