In a press release, KASSMA president, Detward Bey, said the ban has hampered paying royalty to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) by mahaldars. Stating that it was established with the very aim of checking the illegal mining of sand and stone, the KASSMSA affirmed to always uphold its motto. KASSMA said mining and supply of sand was done as per government norms with proper and valid documents. Meanwhile, KASSMSA has appealed to the Sand Stockist &amp; Suppliers Union Dimapur (SSSUD) to follow the new rate &ndash; Rs.32\/cft.
