{"id":181606,"date":"2018-10-12T11:32:16","date_gmt":"2018-10-12T11:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/10\/12\/dr-nicky-urges-students-to-be-eco-friendly\/"},"modified":"2018-10-12T11:32:16","modified_gmt":"2018-10-12T11:32:16","slug":"dr-nicky-urges-students-to-be-eco-friendly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/10\/12\/dr-nicky-urges-students-to-be-eco-friendly\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Nicky urges students to be eco-friendly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/2018_10$large_niky.jpg><\/p>\n<p>Advisor Rural Development (RD), Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, has called upon students to be environmentally friendly and to be conscious of their responsibility towards the environment.<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking at the Diphupar Naga Students&rsquo; Union (DNSU) 24th biennial general conference on Friday held under the theme &ldquo;Exploring alternatives&rdquo; at Local Ground, Diphupar Village, as the special invitee.<\/p>\n<p>The advisor also urged the gathered people to pledge to plant ten saplings after they return home. He asked them to not only plant them but to nurture them as well. On climate change, Dr. Nicky said the climatic condition has changed due to human lapses in taking care of the environment and called upon the people to be more conscious.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on academia, the advisor noted the exceptional performances of female students and asked their male counterparts to take it as a challenge to perform better. The advisor also spoke on the importance of dignity of labour and preserving one&rsquo;s identity.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the inaugural program was chaired by Zuthungbemo K. Ngullie, invocation was said by Rev. Candid Sareo, welcome address was delivered by convenor organizing committee, Aaron Assumi and a presidential note was delivered by DNSU president, Kumlamo Patton. Solidarity messages were given by head GB Diphupar, Kekhwetsu Khutsoh and Naga Students Federation (NSF), general secretary, Imtiyapang.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Special number was presented by Angami Students&rsquo; Union Diphupar (ASUD) and DNSU felicitated the awardees in the field of academics and other disciplines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In an afternoon program, an awareness campaign on &ldquo;Clean and Green: My environment, my responsibility&rdquo; was held with assistant environment engineer, Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), Er. Aghali S. Swu as the resource person.<\/p>\n<p>In the campaign, Swu deliberated on the causes of global warming and other environmental issues. She urged the students to preserve the environment and strive to implement the best steps to protect it.<\/p>\n<p>Later the resource person also interacted with students and cleared their doubts on the issue. More than 2000 people attended the inaugural session.<\/p>\n<p>Staff Reporter adds: Later in the evening, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Dimapur, Jatila Jamir graced the valedictory program as the special invitee where new office bearers consisting of 12 executive members were inducted for the tenure of 2018-2020. The team will be headed by Pitovi Achumi as president and Grizel A Ngullie as general secretary with other executives.<\/p>\n<p>In her address as special invitee, Jatila Jamir lamented the absence of institutes for medical sciences, Indian Institute of Management, and National institute for research and statistics among others, in the state. She further pointed out that barring a few, many colleges and departments in the University do not have a well-balanced program, stating that the focus is mainly on academics most of the time, and things like inculcation of values, healthy attitudes, emotions and development of skills get sidelined.<\/p>\n<p>Jatila also revealed that the live register of Employment Exchange in Nagaland shows a disturbing rise of unemployment in the state with the total number of unemployed in Nagaland at 68,504 as of December 31, 2016. She however encouraged the students present to explore the many avenues that are available.<\/p>\n<p>The newly elected president, N.
