Adele has released her first single in five years. The 33-year-old singer\/songwriter dropped new tune \u2018Easy On Me\u2019 on Friday (15.10.21), and the song has been widely praised by a number of stars, including her good friend, rapper Drake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wrote on his Instagram Stories: \u201cOne of my best friends in the world just dropped a single. @adele WOIIIIIIII (sic)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Clueless\u2019 star Alicia Silverstone shared a TikTok video in which she jokingly reached for a few bottles as she \u201cprepared for a new Adele song\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She wrote: \u201cGo easy on me @Adele\u2026 you always make me cry\u2026 (sic)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Normani tweeted: \u201cADELE oh ADELE i love uuuuuuuuuu (sic)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the song, Adele – who filed for divorce in 2019 from husband Simon Konecki, who she shares eight-year-old son Angelo with – sings: \u201cThere ain\u2019t no room for things to change\/ When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways\/ You can\u2019t deny how hard I have tried\/ I changed who I was to put you both first\/ But now I give up<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGo easy on me, baby I was still a child\/ Didn\u2019t get the chance to feel the world around me\/ had no time to choose what I chose to do so go easy on me\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this week, Adele announced her new album \u201830\u2019 will be released on November 19th, and admitted she was \u201ca maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil\u201d when she started the record nearly three years ago. In a lengthy statement shared on social media, she said: \u201cI was certainly nowhere near where I\u2019d hoped to be when I first started it nearly 3 years ago. Quite the opposite actually\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd yet there I was knowingly – willingly, even, throwing myself into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way. I\u2019ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDiscovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with, and I feel like I\u2019ve finally found my feeling again. I\u2019d go so far as to say that I\u2019ve never felt more peaceful in my life\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd so, I\u2019m ready to finally put this album out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was my ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of my life\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen I was writing it, it was my friend who came over with a bottle of wine and a takeaway to cheer me up. My wise friend who always gives the best advice. (sic)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adele revealed the new collection with \u201cnarrate\u201d the efforts she\u2019s gone to rebuild her \u201chouse and [her] heart\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She continued: \u201cAnd then that friend who no matter what, checked in on me even though I\u2019d stopped checking in with them because I\u2019d become so consumed by my own grief. \u201cI\u2019ve painstakingly rebuilt my house and my heart since then and this album narrates it\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
