In its efforts to reach out to the farmers and assist them, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), conducted a series of activities across the state. Following are some more reports of these activities from across the state.<\/p>\n

Tseminyu block:  ATMA Kohima district under Tseminyu block in collaboration with sub-divisional planning and development board (SDPDB) conducted a demonstration on ginger candy preparation and training on jam\/pickle preparation in Rumesinyu village on December 8.<\/div>\n
The demonstration was led by the resource person Assistant Technology Manger (ATM) of Tseminyu block, Kebegi Kent. The main objective of the programme was to create awareness for the farmers about the value addition of ginger and how to enhance their daily income.  SDAO Tseminyu Vewheto Thorie, gave a brief introduction on the importance of value addition and how easily it can be generated. He also encouraged the farmers specially the women to focus on these programme.<\/div>\n
Peren block: ATMA Peren block launched fishery farm school at Mhainamtsi village on December 17 with Wangan Phom, EAC Jalukie as special guest.<\/div>\n
A press release by AO Peren block, Mapeuheile Ndang, the special guest encouraged the fish farmers to go on large scale farming so as to sustain their livelihood and to improve the economy. He also requested ATMA to nurture the adopted farm school. <\/div>\n
Mapeuheile Ndang AO & convener while chairing the programme, highlighted the activities of ATMA and also spoke on the concept of farm school. Dibamleule was appointed farm school teacher. She expressed her appreciation to ATMA for recognising her work. Haimia, fishery demonstrator also spoke on fish pond management such as selection of site for fish pond, soil type, fingerlings care and management, disease management and feeds etc. <\/div>\n
During interaction, fish enthusiasts also shared their experiences, views and opinions. Special guest along with ATMA officials and farm school teacher visited fish ponds after the programme. Altogether 21 fish farmers attended the programme. <\/div>\n
Meluri Block: ATMA Meluri block, Phek conducted training, demonstration, mobilization of SHGs, inauguration of farm school and a farmers award program at Lephori and Matikhru villages on December 8, with BTM Meluri block, Ekonthung and ATM Meluri block, Khriebelie and Kelvin Khamo as resource persons. <\/div>\n
A press release from ATMA Phek, stated that, demonstrations on mushroom cultivation was conducted by BTM Meluri block, Ekonthung where he emphasized on the importance of mushroom growing and nutritional benefits. He encouraged farmers to grow mushrooms as it would help them enhance their economy as home grown mushrooms are in high demand. Various steps in growing mushroom were shown to the trainees. <\/div>\n
ATM Meluri Khriebelie and Kelvin also conducted field demonstrations on growing garden pea, onions and carrots. The resource persons demonstrated for the farmers how to make proper nurseries for growing the crops and also emphasized on the importance of line sowing, mulching, staking and harvesting indices. <\/div>\n
Demonstration on vermiwash preparation and application of bio pesticides was also imparted to the farmers. A Farm School on tree bean was inaugurated at Lephori village. The best farmer award was given to Mesethsuluo of Matikhru village. Spawns, vegetable seeds and bio pesticides were also distributed to the farmers. <\/div>\n
Bhandari block: ATMA Wokha Bhandari block conducted a mobilization of farmers group on December 7 at the office of SDO (Sc), Bhandari Town, sponsored by ATMA, Wokha.<\/div>\n
A press release from ATMA Bhandari block stated that, SDO (Sc)-&-BTT convener ATMA Bhandari block, Chumbeni Odyuo was the resource person, who spoke on the concept and importance SHGs, farmer interest groups, woman groups, commodity organizations etc.<\/div>\n
Altogether 12 persons representing two SHGs attended the programme.<\/div>\n
Meanwhile, ATMA Wokha, Bhandari block also conducted a training and demonstration programme on December 6 at Bhandari village, sponsored by ATMA Wokha. <\/div>\n
A press release from ATMA Bhandari block stated that training on package and practices of arecanut was delivered by Phyobeni Mozhui. Demonstration on radish cultivation was shown by ATM Bhandari block, Tracy Mozhui. Bordeaux mixture was demonstrated by ATM Bhandari, Thungchobeni Kikon. The program was chaired by SDO (Sc)-&-BTT convener ATMA Bhandari block, Chumbeni Odyuo. Altogether 19 persons attended the programme.<\/div>\n
Longmatra block: ATMA Longmatra block, Kiphire inaugurated a farm school, mobilization of farmers group and training programmes from December 7 to 11.<\/div>\n
A press release from Moakumzuk, BTM, Longmatra block stated that a Fishery Farm School was inaugurated at Sanphure village on December 7 where John Sangtam was appointed as the farm school teacher. Chairperson Tsungrozen ATM, Longmatra block delivered a welcome speech and spoke on the concept of farm school and the importance of maintaining farm school registers.<\/div>\n
Mobilization of farmers group was done at Ngoromi village on December 10. Resource person Imnawati ATM, Longmatra block highlighted the concept and importance of forming SHGs, FIGs, forming organizations and management of such groups.<\/div>\n
On December 11 at Pungren village, training on package of practice for cultivation of cabbage was conducted by resource person Tsungrozen ATM, Longmatra block while another training program on mushroom cultivation was conducted by Imnawati ATM, Longmatra block. Altogether 22 participants attended the programme.<\/div>\n
Sakshi block: ATMA Longleng inaugurated, an “integrated farm school” at Auching village, Sakshi block on December 3.  A press release from ATMA Longleng, BTM Sakshi Moisen stated that it was set up with an aim to impart benefits of incorporating various types of farming for improvement and utilization of limited resources in the best way possible. <\/div>\n
In a similar programme, demonstrations on “vermi composting” and “nursery bed preparation” were imparted at Auching village, Sakshi block under ATMA Longleng block.  Resource person Athai AFA from Agriculture department, Longleng sensitized people about the benefits of using vermi composts as manure for growing plants. Demonstrations were also given on “semi-intensive piggery housing” by Dr Moisen BTM Sakshi block, ATMA Longleng. This exercise was to introduce to people the concept of semi-intensive rearing of pigs where a part of the pig shed could be left uncovered for health benefits of animals.<\/div>\n
Niuland block: ATMA Dimapur, Niuland block conducted a farmers’ friend-&-BFAC meeting chaired by BTM Niuland block, Demalu Hasnusa at Muga Farm School on December 5 to discuss management practices and also joint visits to be conducted based on the Rabi crops which were distributed to some farmers during 2018-19.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
