As part of its civic action programmes, Assam Rifles has been conducting various activities for the local population to help it become more capable, learn about diseases and to improve military and civil relations. Following are some reports of their activities.<\/p>\n
Wokha battalion: Wokha Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on skill development under the theme, “Today’s youth tomorrow future” at Bhandari on December 15. <\/p>\n
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the lecture covered details of various employment options available for youth in the state and central government departments. Information on latest government schemes for business start-ups and list of skill development institutes in Nagaland was also covered. 20 youths attended the lecture.<\/p>\n
Medziphema battalion: Medziphema battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a lecture on the occasion of “Human Rights Day” in Longleng on December 10. <\/p>\n
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the aim behind organizing the lecture was to spread awareness among participants about various inalienable rights that a person is inherently entitled to. The rights of an individual as enshrined in the constitution in ‘Fundamental Rights’ was also covered. 65 locals attended the informative and motivational lecture.<\/p>\n
Phek battalion: Phek battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted “Free Medical and Check up Camp” at Pokhungri village, under Phek on December 10. <\/p>\n
A press release from PRO HQ IGAR (N) stated that the aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical treatment and check up for local residents of Pokhungri and neighbouring villages, devoid of requisite medical facilities. A specially constituted team under Assam Rifles medical officer examined 137 people that included 58 male, 43 female and 36 children. Free medicines were provided to ailing patients. The medical team also visited houses of elderly people who were unable to attend the medical camp owing to general weakness. Apart from the medical assistance, basic knowledge on epidemic diseases and precautions was also imparted.<\/p>\n
Mokokchung battalion: Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a free medical camp on December 11 at Kobulong Village, Mokokchung. <\/p>\n
A press release by Assam Rifles stated that a specially constituted team under Assam Rifles medical officer examined 126 patients of varying age groups. Medicines were provided for free according to diagnosed ailments and on the basis of what patients needed. <\/p>\n
In another event, a friendly volleyball match was played between local youth of Chungliyimsen village and troops of COB Changki, on December 12. <\/p>\n
AR stated that the match was organised to encourage the youth of the region to utilise the medium of sports and games for recreation, social interaction and overall growth of health and mind. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
