{"id":187021,"date":"2018-12-18T11:15:02","date_gmt":"2018-12-18T11:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/12\/18\/sensational-murder-shocks-dimapur\/"},"modified":"2025-04-10T12:38:14","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T07:08:14","slug":"sensational-murder-shocks-dimapur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/12\/18\/sensational-murder-shocks-dimapur\/","title":{"rendered":"Sensational murder shocks Dimapur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/2018_12$large_kevi.jpg><\/p>\n<p>Dimapur city was rocked by a sensational murder, when the body of one of its prominent citizens- Kevi Zakiesetuo- was found dead near the boundary wall close to his office of his residence, &lsquo;Zakiesetuo Manor&rsquo; on Tuesday at 11:50 am.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Late Kevi Zakiesetuo was 59 and is survived by his wife Suvivono and four children. Born in Khonomoa, late Kevi Zakiesetuo was a member of Dimapur Town Committee, former president of Dimapur District Congress Committee and also former member of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) . Late Kevi had also contested the assembly election in 2003 on a Congress ticket.<\/p>\n<p>The funeral service will be held at late Kevi Zakiesetuo&rsquo;s residence near DDSC stadium at 2:30 pm on December 19.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of shocked colony residents including friends and well wishers thronged the Zakiesato home .&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;Information about who saw late Kevi last and what happened on Monday evening when he was believed to be in his office room and what time was he bludgeoned inside and by whom and how his hands and feet tied and mouth duck taped, then dragged and left at the spot where it was discovered, are points the police will have to probe.<\/p>\n<p>Normally crime sites are not disturbed but by the time police arrived the entire place was milling with people.<\/p>\n<p>In order to share information, Commissioner of Police Limasunep Jamir held a press briefing with media late Tuesday evening. He told media that on receipt of information on the discovery of the dead body, a team rushed to the spot. On reaching the spot, the police team discovered the victim had both hands and legs bound and mouth bound by duck tape.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;He said the team took immediate cognizance and a case has been registered under section IPC 302.<\/p>\n<p>Limasunep said preliminary investigation revealed that the late Kevi&rsquo;s office was disturbed and showed signs of a scuffle with broken materials and blood stains found at various spots in the office. There were also indications that the body was dragged about 15 meters from the office and left at where it was found in the morning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The inquest report revealed a laceration on the head suspected to have been inflicted by a blunt object. As for the time of murder, Limasunep said the post mortem reports were awaited.<\/p>\n<p>Assuring citizens that the police will leave no stone unturned to unearth the truth, Limasunep also appealed to the family of the deceased and citizens of Dimapur to have faith in Dimapur police. Police have yet to zero in on suspects and motive behind the murder since investigation had only begun. &ldquo;We do not rule out any possibilities and we are making all efforts to deliver justice,&rdquo; Limasunep reiterated.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed under additional deputy commissioner of police (Crime) Relo T Aye along with other members such as &#8211; Kaino H Sema, ACP, C Division; Among Jamir (UBI), OC West police station; and N Likao Odyuo (UBI) CI Zone 2 Dimapur.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Additional deputy commissioner of police (Crime), Relo T Aye who also spoke at the briefing stated that post mortem report was awaited and the motive for crime is part of the investigation process.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taking note of the festive season, CP Limasunep Jamir has also appealed for peace and calm and cautioned against being misled by rumours and fake news on social media.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Will ensure justice is delivered: Rio<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>State chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, has expressed shock over the demise of Kevi Zakiesatuo, who was found dead Tuesday under mysterious circumstances, and asserted that the machinery of the state government would leave no stone unturned to ensure that justice is delivered.<\/p>\n<p>In a condolence message, Rio said late Zakiesatuo has been personally known to him for several years and considered him to be a friend.&nbsp; As a political leader, the chief minister said late Zakiesatuo was an approachable person who had a sincere commitment to serve the people, especially the weaker sections of society.&nbsp; He was a prominent and recognized personality of Dimapur and has positively contributed towards the betterment of the city in several ways, Rio said. &ldquo;We will always remember him with fond memories and his contributions will continue to impact the society in the years to come,&rdquo; said the chief minister.<\/p>\n<p>In his untimely demise, Rio said the society has lost a loved leader and Dimapur has lost a precious citizen, adding that the vacuum left by him will be difficult to fill and &ldquo;we will all miss him dearly.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The chief minister conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and to all his well wishers and prayed to Almighty God to let his soul rest in peace and give strength and solace to his loved ones.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Dy. CM: State deputy chief minister, Y Patton, also expressed anguish over the killing of late Kevi Zakiesatuo, and has asked the investigating agencies not to leave any stone unturned to bring the perpetrator(s) to book.<\/p>\n<p>Patton, in a condolence message, described late Zakiesatuo as a prominent citizen, social worker and a politician, who was also among the pioneers of Dimapur town,&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Patton extended condolences to the bereaved family members at this time of grief and sorrow and pray that God Almighty grant them solace and the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>NPCC: Expressing shock over the cold-blooded killing of late Kevi Zakiesatuo, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) said there was no longer any respect for the government, the law and its enforcing agencies and people were no longer safe even in their own homes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a press release, NPCC president, K Therie, said the murder of a peaceful leader like late Zakiesatuo was akin to the murder of peace and harmony and deserved the highest condemnation.<\/p>\n<p>NPCC president described late Zakiesatuo as a selfless leader and said that in his life of public service, he also served the Congress party in various capacities including as general secretary, NPCC and DCC Dimapur president. Therie said he also served the public on many other public platforms and was also elected twice as member Dimapur Town Council. His untimely demise has created an irreparable vacuum which cannot be filled, NPCC president said conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members on behalf of all rank and file of NPCC.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>WAPO: Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) has condemned the gruesome murder of late Kevi Zakiesato and appealed to the law enforcing agency to ensure that no loophole was left unattended in bringing the culprit(s) to book and in ensuring a befitting punishment to such criminal(s).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, WAPO president Lhouphrevilie Rino and general secretary Keviphots&uuml; Khw&uuml;kha also conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>CAKU: Chakhro Angami Kuda Union (CAKU) has expressed shock and pain over the sudden demise of Kevi Zakiesatuo and appealed to the responsible agencies not to leave any stone unturned to nab the perpetrators at the earliest.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release, CAKU president Luola-&Uuml;sou and secretary Thejangulie Angami while condemning the &ldquo;heinous crime and the barbaric murder in the strongest manner&rdquo; said the union would no more remain a silent spectator against the crime that have taken the lives of so many leaders from the community. The union said those behind the murders of Kevi should not left free, either from within or external forces.<\/p>\n<p>CAKU said late Zakiesatuo was a prominent citizen of Dimapur and a well known person, who served the Nagas and the community in particular in various capacities. It also acknowledged his generosity towards various organizations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Further, expressing sorrow over the sudden demise of its leader, CAKU prayed that Almighty give the strength to the bereaved family and comfort them.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>SCD: Sumi Council, Dimapur (SCD) has expressed shock over the untimely and sadden demise of Kevi Zakiesatuo, a prominent social worker and pioneer of Dimapur town.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, SCD chairman Kuhoi Zhimo said late Zakiesatuo was an active Congress leader and contested Assembly election from1 Dimapur-I assembly constituency once.<\/p>\n<p>While expressing deepest condolences to his wife Sivi Zakiesato and children, the Sumi Council, Dimapur prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>NPP state unit: National People&rsquo;s Party (NPP) Nagaland state unit has expressed deep sadness over the gruesome murder of Kevi Zakiesetuo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, NPP state unit condemned the horrendous act and expressed hope that justice would prevail soon. NPP unit also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wished them hope and comfort in the midst of sorrow.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>NPF minority wing: Naga People&rsquo;s Front (NPF) minority wing strongly condemned the brutal murder of Kevi Zakiesatuo and said that &ldquo;such senseless killing is an act of cowardice and not of heroism&rdquo;.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, NPF minority wing (central) presidentBishnu Bhattacharjee urged the responsible authority to setup one special investigation team and draw up action plans to trace the killer and find out the motive behind the murder.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The members of minority wing have conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>PCB: Punjabi Community, Dimapur (PCD) has expressed grief over the untimely death of Kevi Zakiesatuo, a prominent social worker and a Dimapur citizen to the core.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release, PCD president Gurbachan Singh described late Zakiesatuo as &ldquo;a secular person&rdquo; who loved the people irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
