He said this while addressing a huge Congress rally in Khuzama local ground where he indicated both negotiating parties wanted a solution at the “soonest possible” time for permanent peace and all-round development.

Shinde said as home minister, he assured that peace would come to Nagaland so that a sea change would bring development in all fronts once a new government was installed.

He said if insurgency remained, there would be no development when it was “under control” in neigbouring states.

Shinde also lamented that Nagaland was lagging behind other neighbouring states in tourism and industry, as there was not much development despite huge inflow of funds provided by the UPA government.

He said when Congress led UPA took over from BJP-led NDA, the country’s growth rate was only 3% but now it has reached 9% which indicated that India was progressing. He said the country’s economic growth has been put at 6.5 %.

He pointed out that while Sikkim was now self sufficient in power, Nagaland failed to generate any power unit during the past ten years.

Shinde pointed out that the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran was implemented in almost all villages of the country but “nothing has been done” for its full completion in Nagaland.

The minister asserted that electricity was an essential component for development followed by good road communication and proper education.

Shinde promised that if Congress comes to power, the funds for development would be used for full fledged development.

He reminded people of Nagaland that if they wanted to get real development in all fronts, they should elect the Congress candidates so that a good government could be installed.

“It is an opportunity to you all to bring a change in the government for your future prosperity,” said Shinde.

He also lauded the far sighted vision of former NPCC president K.V. Pusa and appealed to the people to elect him for speedy development of the area.

AICC secretary Captain Praveen Davar also addressed the rally and pointed out that the Congress was the only party that could bring all round development in Nagaland and appealed to the people to see the “change” by voting for the Congress.

The AICC secretary took Davar also assured that if Congress was voted to power in the state, the party would construct good roads connecting all district headquarters, jobs for 75,000 unemployed youths, ensure education with subsidy in fees, even in private schools, music and sports academies etc.

Union Minister of Home Affairs Sushilkumar Shinde Monday said the Centre was sincere in bringing about a solution to the Naga issue as Nagas and the Centre wanted a peaceful Nagaland.
