{"id":19094,"date":"2018-06-16T00:05:01","date_gmt":"2018-06-16T00:05:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/06\/16\/public-meeting-in-mkg-denounce-rape\/"},"modified":"2025-04-10T11:26:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T05:56:20","slug":"public-meeting-in-mkg-denounce-rape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/06\/16\/public-meeting-in-mkg-denounce-rape\/","title":{"rendered":"Public meeting in Mkg denounce rape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/MSGOCBFNEORZXULGFBRR.jpg><\/p>\n<div>In the wake of the recent rape of a minor girl at Mokokchung town and other social evils plaguing the society, a public meeting was held here at police point here on Friday to deliberate on crimes against women and social evils.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The public meeting was jointly organised by various Mokokchung Town Aoer Telongjem (MTAT), All Ward Union Mokokchung (AWUM), Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT), Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM).<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Shops in and around the town downed their shutters and normal activity in the town came to a grinding halt during the meeting that lasted for about two hours.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">At the meeting, speeches were delivered by representatives of the above mentioned organizations wherein all the speakers condemned the rape of a minor girl. They also demanded the responsible authorities to award befitting punishment to the accused.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Later, the resolution committee read out a three-point resolution that was adopted at the meeting.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">It was resolved that a committee would be set up to fight crimes against women and social evils in the society. The committee would function under the strength and sanction of all the Ao civil society organisations of the town.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Further, the meeting resolved that if any person\/organization attempted to bail out rape accused, they would be doing so at their own risk and would be further stripped off of their socio-cultural and traditional rights and privileges of the Aos.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The meeting also resolved to form a \u2018Vigilance Team\u2019 in all the 18 wards of the town to fight crimes against women and social evils in the society.
