Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Technologies Display and Dissemination Facility” (DTDDF), School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University with the cooperation of Agriculture deputy director, Peren and villagers, organised three village level workshops on “Technologies of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for the People of Nagaland” on March 8 and 9, at Kipeuzang, Old Tesen and New Tesen village of Peren, Nagaland. <\/p>\n
A press release from DTDDF, SASRD exercising authority, Dr. N. K. Patra stated that altogether, 170 villagers from three villages participated in three workshops. The workshops were chaired by Dr. Zieleigai Ndang, deputy director, department of Agriculture. <\/p>\n
Resource person of the three day program was DTDDF exercising authority Dr. N. K. Patra. Details about ‘scientific research and societal activities of the DAE’, BARC and activities of DTDDF, SASRD (which is functioning in collaboration with BARC, Mumbai) was presented by Dr. Patra. He also gave a brief introduction to BARC and their domain of work such as nuclear technology, bio-medics, agriculture etc. He further highlighted procedural aspects to get licenses for BARC’s technologies to start entrepreneurships as well as available technologies with DTDDF, SASRD. Before the end of the program, the chairman of the program explained all technical issues in the local dialect. <\/p>\n
During the technical session, different technologies under DTDDF — namely ‘Domestic Water Purifier’; ‘Foldable Solar Dryer’ (FSD), ‘Soil Organic Carbon Detection Kit (SOCDK) and the ‘Flouride Detection Kit’ (FDK) — were displayed and demonstrated by B.Sc (Ag) Hons 4th Year students (Kihetoli, Kekhriezau, Nzanmongi, Poun, Linoka, Saya and Anjali) of SASRD. All participants were encouraged to adopt BARC technologies and to start entrepreneurships.<\/p>\n
At the end of the workshop one ‘Domestic Water Purifier’; five ‘Soil Organic Carbon Detection Kits’ (SOCDKs) and one ‘Flouride Detection Kit’ (FDK) were given to the villagers for their use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
