{"id":191825,"date":"2019-03-20T12:14:19","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T12:14:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2019\/03\/20\/umang-festival-celebrated-in-kohima\/"},"modified":"2019-03-20T12:14:19","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T12:14:19","slug":"umang-festival-celebrated-in-kohima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2019\/03\/20\/umang-festival-celebrated-in-kohima\/","title":{"rendered":"Umang festival celebrated in Kohima"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/2019_3$large_festival.jpg><\/p>\n<div>Umang Festival, a festival for differently-abled children, was celebrated in the state capital with much fun-fare, organized by the North East Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Cherry Blossoms Society, Kohima.<\/div>\n<div>Children with special needs from five schools &#8212; Bumble Bee Inclusive School, Cherry Blossoms School, G Rio School, Jo Foundation, Tabitha Enabling Academy &#8212; from Kohima exhibited their talents through songs, dances, and dramas during the event held at State Academy Hall, Kohima, March 20.<\/div>\n<div>Joint director, Social Welfare, Atoli Sema, in her short speech said &ldquo;you are not disabled but normal with your disability&rdquo; and appreciated the talents of the children.<\/div>\n<div>She urged educational institutions to equally cater to needs of the differently-abled and bring up the children equally without bias.<\/div>\n<div>Kavita Acharya, wife of the Nagaland Governor PB Acharya, graced the occasion as chief guest. In her address, Acharya said every child is a flower created by God and has a role to play as a useful living being.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>While reminding the special children that they were talented, she said that with hard work, sincerity and innocence, they were living a life of value and bringing happiness to all.<\/div>\n<div>She also appreciated the hard work of the organizers, teachers and parents and primarily the children&rsquo;s enthusiastic participation. &ldquo;I enjoyed being with you all and wish to see a growth of these events&rdquo; she said.<\/div>\n<div>Acharya also participated in the &lsquo;Ring a bell&rsquo; campaign which aims to make inclusive education mandatory in all SSA schools and educational institutions.<\/div>\n<div>The campaign involves ringing school bells for one minute by children to draw the attention of the community, local governing body, politicians and government officials to take action towards giving children with disabilities, access to education.<\/div>\n<div>Cherry Blossoms School director, Purnima Kayina, talking to this Correspondent, said the Umang festival was an initiative of NEZCC Dimapur and a time to showcase different talents of children with special needs, to empower, encourage and motivate them.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Umang festival celebrated in Kohima<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[679],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-191825","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-nagaland-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/191825","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=191825"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/191825\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=191825"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=191825"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=191825"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
