As the last date for filing of nomination for the Nagaland parliamentary constituency election and by-election came to a close, two more candidates filed their nominations on Monday, taking the number of candidates in the fray to four.<\/div>\n
Former BJP national secretary (ST Morcha) Hayithung Tungoe filed his nomination as NPP candidate. Dr M.M. Thromwa Konyak of Indian Christian Secular Party also filed his nomination during the day.<\/div>\n
The two candidates filed their nomination at the commissioner’s office here.<\/div>\n
Meanwhile, NPF has constituted a coordination committee within the party to explore possibilities for forging an alliance with likeminded parties. The committee is headed by Rajya Sabha member and party’s secretary general, KG Kenye.<\/div>\n
When contacted, the opposition party informed Nagaland Post that it will make an announcement in a day or two in this regard.<\/div>\n
By-election: A total of three candidates filed their nomination papers for the by-election to 26 Aongleden A\/C in front of the returning officer Mokokchung. The candidates included Alem Jongshi (INC), O. Tinu Longkumer (NPP) and Toshipokba (NPF).<\/div>\n
As NDPP candidate Sharingain Longkumer had filed his nomination papers on Friday, the by-election will witness a four-cornered contest. Aonglenden constituency has a total of 12,269 electors.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
