{"id":198423,"date":"2019-08-31T11:01:49","date_gmt":"2019-08-31T11:01:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2019\/08\/31\/various-organisations-conduct-cleanliness-drive-and-tree-plantation\/"},"modified":"2019-08-31T11:01:49","modified_gmt":"2019-08-31T11:01:49","slug":"various-organisations-conduct-cleanliness-drive-and-tree-plantation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2019\/08\/31\/various-organisations-conduct-cleanliness-drive-and-tree-plantation\/","title":{"rendered":"Various organisations conduct cleanliness drive and tree plantation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/http:\/\/new.nagalandpost.com\/cms\/gall_content\/no_images_650x.jpg><\/p>\n<p>Volunteers of ward 17 Forest Colony Kohima, Rotary Club Kohima (RCK) and Association of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco (APPDB) carried out cleanliness drive and tree plantation in their respective areas in Kohima and Dimapur.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Forest Colony Kohima: A cleanliness drive was carried out by volunteers and ward co-ordinator of ward 17 trained under &ldquo;100 days Smart City Special Initiative campaign on Sanitation&rdquo; on Saturday at Forest Colony.<\/div>\n<div>A press release by joint CEO of Kohima Smart City stated that colony residents also participated in the drive by cleaning drains, repairing potholes and cleaned the roadsides and roadside gardens.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The release stated that volunteers and co-ordinators of all 19 wards under Kohima city are currently collecting sample data on household level waste management by visiting houses in their respective wards.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The volunteers and co-ordinators are also assisting the Municipal Waste Collectors in educating the public on basic waste segregation when they come to deposit their dustbins in the garbage trucks.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Kohima Smart City hoped that such exercise would encourage all household to practice waste segregation at the household level and go a long way in systematic waste management of the city.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>While there are reports of a good number of households who segregate waste and practice home composting, the release stated that the practice was unknown by many households and therefore not practiced.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;In this connection, Kohima Smart City said that consultations and conducting seminars was being held with all key stakeholders so that information and good practices can be propagated through the organisations for a concerted effort towards waste management.<\/div>\n<div>RCK: Meanwhile, Rotary Club of Kohima (RCK) also carried out a tree plantation programme under the theme &ldquo;Make Kohima Green&rdquo; on Saturday.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>A press release from RCK Kohima stated that president Dr Neisatuo Mero said that the tree plantation was a part of Rotary year plan under community services and will continue to be done phase wise.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Charter president Dr.Rosemary Dzuvichu spoke on the theme &ldquo;Make Kohima Green&rdquo; and urged on the need to make the capital green as a part of Rotary&rsquo;s contribution to protecting the environment.<\/div>\n<div>She said a climatic change in Kohima is due to the lack of green coverage of trees and stressed on every citizen&rsquo;s responsibility to plant trees to make a difference.<\/div>\n<div>RCK also informed that the next project of partnering with colony youths and planting one tree, one house would bring a marked difference in climate in the next 5 years.<\/div>\n<div>The plantation started in the landslide area below Naga Hospital Authority Kohima and than hundred trees were also planted at the Naga Mothers Association (NMA) Cradle Ridge Centre, with the active involvement of the children at the centre.<\/div>\n<div>Each child planted the first tree. Rotarians interacted with the children and had lunch with them. NMA Cradle Ridge Centre at Seithogei has been looking after orphaned positive children for many decades.<\/div>\n<div>APPDB: Association of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco (APPDB) in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Dimapur organised a cleanliness drive at Metha Colony, market area near Don Bosco Provincial House which is the regional head quarter of Salesians of Don Bosco, Province of Dimapur consisting of Nagaland, Manipur, Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>A press release from APPDB Dimapur unit general secretary, Nzanbemo Humtsoe stated that, cleanliness drive carried out in view of the visit of the 10th Successor of Don Bosco, Rev. Fr. Angel Artime SDB., to Dimapur from September 10 to 14.
