Rector Major (Superior General), Fr. Fernandez Angel Artime, of Salesian (Don Bosco) society, who is on a tour to Northeast States including Nagaland from September 10 to 14, was accorded a public reception in the premises of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on Wednesday. The Rector Major arrived Dimapur on September 10.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Fr. Fernandez Angel Artime, appreciated the work initiated by Salesians, members of Salesian family and teachers, especially in field of education in this region. He also enthralled the gathering by playing the guitar and singing Spanish melodies accompanied by his secretary, Fr. Horazzio SDB.<\/p>\n
It may be noted that in his five years as Rector Major since 2014, he had visited most of the 134 countries where Salesians were working and has met around 12,000 out of the 14,000 Salesians. <\/p>\n
DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, in a short speech exhorted the youth to accept the guidance offered by Salesians and teachers and further urged the gathering not to be misled by social media.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Bishop James Thoppil, acknowledged the services of the Salesians and the Salesian Family, especially in the diocese of Kohima and appreciated the visit of the Rector Major, while former minister, Government of Manipur, Francis Ngajokpa, exhorted the gathering to appreciate the great service rendered by the Salesians at the cost of great sacrifices. He also highlighted the importance of honesty and forgiveness taught by the Salesian system of education.<\/p>\n
Highlights of the reception programme included, Jhumur dance by youths of Tinsukia, tribal steps by Don Bosco College Itanagar, traditional song by Kohima Parish, Kuki dance by Mary Immaculate Parish Imphal, choir by Don Bosco College Kohima, Bihu dance by Don Bosco College Golaghat and Rongmei Dance from Don Bosco College, Maram, Manipur.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, on September 10, the Rector Major was welcomed by provincial superior of Dimapur province, Fr. Kuruvachira Jose SDB, members of the Salesian Family at Dimapur airport, and was escorted by 20 bikers of Nagaland Motor Cycle Club (NMC) from Dimapur airport to Provincial House Dimapur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
