Dzükou sanitation drive organised by the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) in collaboration with tourist guides under the theme. “cleanliness is next to Godliness” was held on November 16. A total of 60 volunteers including the tourist guides participated in the cleanliness drive at Dzükou valley.<\/p>\n
A brief programme was held before the drive at Dzükou entry point, Viswema with former legislator Medokul Sophie, as the special guest. Sophie also the chairman, Southern Angami Board of Trustees in his address urged the citizens to take care of the environment and preserve the natural beauty of the valley and the state. <\/p>\n
While reminding that cleanliness is everyone’s duty, he asked the gathering to set an example to love the environment, so that the environment also loves “us” back. He also added that safeguarding the environment should not be confined to Dzükou alone, but also called upon the need to create awareness in the entire state. “If we can take care of our environment, our environment will take care of all of us” he added.<\/p>\n
SAPO president Zakieleto Tsükrü said Dzükou was a unique land from the rest of the places, and it was a joy to be owners and protectors of this land. However he said, the invasion of humans in this virgin forest lands have defiled its purity as it has been observed that visitors were often defiling the land by throwing their trash, littering it, and even causing fire. To this he asked the citizen to affirm themselves to take care of the rich heritage.<\/p>\n
SAYO president, Vimezhol Theyo said that understanding the need of protect Dzükuo, the valley was then declared free plastic zone, however he added that there were still so many efforts required to keep Dzükou clean again.<\/p>\n
He said that SAYO is also instilling their hope on the tourist guides whom they feel are the main channels to spread the awareness and be the ambassador to protect the nature. <\/p>\n
He also informed that the SAYO were also working on data collection on tourists visiting Dzükou valley to have a better idea on management of tourists.<\/p>\n
Former MLA Sophie who is also an environment crusader led the way by joining the volunteers in cleaning up Dzükou valley. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
